MEDRIX UPDATE:
MEDRIX focuses on training young doctors and especially those working under challenging circumstances in the rural areas.
Recently MEDRIX sponsored training of doctors for the Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses course. Four of the twelve doctors who completed the 11-day course were from hospitals in the rural areas of the province. The average age of the doctors was 29.5 years; the youngest being 25.
In the IMCI course 60% of the time is in the classroom and 40% is actual practice with pediatric patients in the provincial hospital – combining both theory and hands-on training.
Here are some photos of the doctors studying and practicing.
Thanks to all who donated to support this work. If you missed this opportunity, we will be fund-raising for another class in the fall.

Hue Central Hospital, Hue, Vietnam
The 11-day class of Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) is underway. Twelve new pediatric doctors from the province are attending the course to gain knowledge and experience. Their goal is to improve the health of Vietnamese children who have not yet developed language skills and cannot express how they are feeling. IMCI is a global-scale training program for assessing children from birth to age 5. MEDRIX has sponsored training for 491 nurses and doctors over the years. Many of these health workers serve in rural districts of the province.
Will you join us in saving lives of precious children?

The upcoming IMCI class in Hue, Vietnam, sponsored by MEDRIX, is scheduled to begin on April 4th. This course presents an invaluable opportunity for 11 doctors to enhance their proficiency in diagnosing and treating children. For nearly two decades, MEDRIX has been sponsoring two classes annually, receiving consistently positive feedback from more than 450 graduates.
In the April class, six of the doctors work at the central provincial hospital, while five serve in community hospitals and clinics located in outlying areas.
The class fees for the eleven-day course are funded entirely by MEDRIX at the rate of $200 per student. You can contribute by making a donation of any size through the GlobalGiving website at https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-children-in-vietnam-to-have-good-health/
Thanks.

Success! MEDRIX donors fully funded the Spring laptop scholarship project. The laptop will be presented to a deserving student in Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy at the end of our Spring GIS class.
Now we will close our project account on the GoFundMe giving platform.
But, the good news is that if you delayed in donating toward the Spring laptop scholarship project, we will be running the same project in the Fall for a student in our advanced GIS class. You will again have an opportunity to help a student from a low-income family to fully participate in the digital world that we take so for granted. Watch for our Fall scholarship announcement.
Thank you to the generous MEDRIX donors who pushed the Spring project over the goal line.

Good News from the mother of one of the MEDRIX Heart kids. Please take the time to read the entire letter and get a sense of the emotion expressed by this mom – try to put yourself in her shoes.

I am the mother of Phan Phuoc Duc Anh who was born on August 24, 2012. My Son is the patient of Pediatric Cardiology Department - Hue Central Hospital
My son received the help from the doctors of the Cardiology Department and the Pediatric Cardiology Department of Hue Central Hospital, and the surgery was a success.
Due to the family's difficult economic conditions, the child suffered from a serious desease that need costly surgery and treatment. My family cannot afford to pay for his surgery cost. I received devoted care and help of the doctors and nurses for my son. They helped to find the donors and sent out the applications everywhere to raise funds to pay for my child's hospital fees. Finally, I received help from the non-profit organization MEDRIX, which sponsored a large amount of hospital fees for my child. I'm so happy and being touched, I don't know what else to express my GRATITUDE. I would like to send my deepest thanks to the non-profit organization MEDRIX, the Board of Directors of the hospital, the surgeons and the doctors of the Pediatric Cardiology Department of Hue Central Hospital for creating conditions to support my family.

We hope that the Non-Profit Organization MEDRIX will help more and more children and families in difficult circumstances suffering from serious diseases.
Finally, I would like to wish the Donors, the hospital Board of Directors and all the doctors and nurses of the Pediatric Cardiology Department good health, happiness and much success in their professional careers!
Sincerely Thanks!
