What's one story you keep telling about yourself that's no longer true?
I used to believe that being strong meant doing everything myself.
That if I needed help, I wasn't capable enough.
That if I slowed down, things would fall apart.
That if I wasn't constantly working, fixing, building, caring for everyone else, and holding all the pieces together, then somehow I wasn't doing enough.
For a long time, I wore that story like a badge of honor.
"I can handle it."
And I could.
But just because you CAN carry something doesn't mean you're supposed to carry it forever.
Eventually, life started teaching me that strength can look different.
Strength can be asking for help.
Strength can be resting without earning it first.
Strength can be saying no.
Strength can be allowing someone else to carry part of the load.
Strength can even be admitting, "I don't have the capacity for this right now."
The woman I am today doesn't need to prove how much she can endure.
She wants to build a life she can actually enjoy.
I'm still ambitious. Still a dreamer. Still someone who will probably have twelve ideas before breakfast. 😂
But I'm learning that I don't have to exhaust myself to prove that I'm worthy of the life I'm creating.
That old story served me once.
It helped me survive seasons when I really DID have to be strong.
But I don't live there anymore.
And the stories we outgrow deserve to be retired, not repeated. 🤍
Maybe growth isn't always becoming someone new.
Maybe sometimes it's finally realizing who you no longer have to be.
What's one story about yourself you're ready to retire?
The stories we outgrow deserve to be retired, not repeated.
