I spent the day at Koniver Wellness with Dr. Craig Koniver β€” the man who trained me in peptide therapy, hormone optimization, and performance medicine, and who's trusted by pro athletes, celebrities, and some of the world's highest performers. He has been on the Huberman Labs show and, most recently, the Shawn Ryan show to discuss how he has built one of the most successful practices nationwide.

But here's the most important takeaway: the tools he taught me weren't built for behavioral health. They were built for performance, longevity, and optimization. What we've done at Peak Body & Mind is take that same underlying science β€” the peptides, the hormone work, the advanced labs, the systems-level way of looking at the body β€” and apply it to something most of the field never thinks to connect it to: mental health.

Anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma β€” these aren't just "in your head." They're biology. HPA axis dysfunction, mitochondrial burnout, neuroinflammation, hormone imbalance β€” the exact systems Dr. Koniver taught me to assess and treat in elite performers are the same systems driving so much of what shows up as a mental health diagnosis. We just started asking a different question with the same toolkit: what if we treated the mind the way we treat the body β€” with precision, with data, and with the biology underneath the symptoms?

I'm grateful for the time today, the conversation, and the continued influence on how we do things at Peak Body & Mind

*Postpartum depression doesn't announce itself.*

It's a silent intruder. It doesn't arrive with a warning. It slips in quietly, in the space between exhaustion and love, and it convinces a mother that what she's feeling is simply "part of it."

It isn't.

A mother shouldn't have to lose herself to bring a new life into the world. She shouldn't have to trade her identity, her clarity, her joy, as the cost of motherhood. She deserves to hold both: the fullness of this new role, and the fullness of who she already is.

At Peak Body and Mind, we treat postpartum depression as what it actually is: a biological event, not a personal failing. Hormonal shifts. Neuroinflammation. A nervous system pushed past its threshold. Real, measurable, treatable.

Our approach goes beyond symptom management. We look at the whole picture: hormones, inflammation, sleep architecture, the stress response, the brain's own capacity to heal itself. Because getting better isn't just about surviving this season. It's about coming back to yourself, fully.

You are still in there. We know how to help you find your way back.

Dr. Koniver, who has been my mentor for some time, and still is, taught me tremendous amounts about peptides, horomes, IVNT, and many other modalities, but the most impacful things he teaches are about safety and how to build meaningful relationships with the patient.

Today Dr. Koniver is being featured on the Shawn Ryan show and it's very well deserved.

Your nervous system might be stuck in "fight-or-flight" β€” and talk therapy alone can't always switch it off. Here's what we do about it.* 🧠

Chronic stress and trauma can leave the body's sympathetic ("fight-or-flight") nervous system locked ON. The result: anxiety, hyperarousal, panic, racing thoughts, and sleep that won't come β€” symptoms that often don't fully respond to therapy or medications.

In our regenerative psychiatric practice, we use *neural therapy* to address this directly. With procaine, we gently saturate and reset the sympathetic ganglions, key relayers of the autonomic nervous system which help it to return to a calm, regulated baseline.

A note about this πŸ‘‡

*It's NOT anesthesia. It is NOT a nerve block.* We are not numbing anything or shutting off nerve signals. We're using procaine's regenerative, biological effect to help the nervous system *reset* itself. Think of it as flipping the system out of alarm mode, not turning it off.

Why procaine specifically? Because it does things ordinary anesthetics don't: it helps normalize the cell's electrical balance, calms local inflammation, and has documented effects at the genetic (epigenetic) level relevant to how trauma is stored.

Nurse Practitioner Swigart was trained in neural therapy by expert nurse practitioners and Medical Doctors, and it's practiced by clinicians across the country. If your nervous system feels stuck and "more of the same" hasn't worked, this is a different lever β€” and I'm happy to talk about whether it's right for you.

Meet Erin, Office Manager and CMA,

Erin is someone who genuinely loves helping people. Whether she's welcoming a new patient into the clinic, supporting someone through a difficult season of life, or simply taking the time to listen, her goal is always the same to make people feel cared for and heard.

Her passion for health extends far beyond the walls of the clinic. Erin has always believed that taking care of your body and mind go hand in hand. She has a love for bodybuilding and fitness, enjoys challenging herself in the gym, and believes in leading by example when it comes to living a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Before joining Peak Body & Mind, Erin's career took her through pediatrics, orthopedic medicine, the VA Hospital, and the Nevada Air National Guard. Those experiences shaped the compassionate, detail-oriented approach she brings to every patient interaction today. As part of the founding team at Peak Body & Mind, she has helped build many of the systems and patient experiences that make the practice feel personal, welcoming, and different from traditional healthcare.

Above all else, Erin's greatest joy is her family. When she's not at the clinic, you'll likely find her spending time with her husband and kiddos hiking in the mountains, camping, staying active, or making memories with the people she loves most.
Erin is proud to be part of Peak Body & Mind, where she combines her passion for helping others with her belief that every patient deserves to be seen, heard, and treated like family.

IV nutrient therapy has a reputation problem.

In most wellness contexts, it is a menu of drips with vague promises about hydration and energy. At Peak Body and Mind, it is a precision clinical tool with a specific mechanistic rationale β€” and it is never administered without one.

The Trinity IVNT stack β€” NAD+, Myers Cocktail, and targeted neurotransmitter-support nutrients β€” serves a specific function in the neuroplasticity protocol. NAD+ IV restores mitochondrial coenzyme levels that cannot be replicated by oral supplementation. Myers provides the mineral and vitamin cofactors that enzyme pathways require to function. The targeted additions address the specific deficiencies identified at baseline.

Critically: NAD+ IV depletes choline through the NNMT pathway. Every NAD+ patient receives Alpha-GPC pre-session to prevent the choline drain that would otherwise impair the neuroplasticity mechanisms NAD+ is intended to support.

IV therapy administered without that clinical rationale is expensive hydration. IV therapy administered within a protocol is a meaningful intervention.

At Peak Body and Mind, every IV is ordered for a reason, at a dose calibrated to the patient, in a sequence that serves the larger protocol.

That's the difference.

The neurobiological crash of postpartum depression begins at delivery. The prevention window closes before that.

Estrogen and progesterone peak during pregnancy β€” the highest levels of a woman's life. At delivery, both drop precipitously. Progesterone's metabolite, allopregnanolone, is the brain's primary GABAergic modulator. When it falls, the calming architecture of the nervous system collapses. Anxiety, insomnia, emotional dysregulation, and dysphoria follow β€” not as psychological reactions, but as the direct neurobiological consequence of that hormonal collapse.

The FDA-approved postpartum depression treatment works by artificially restoring allopregnanolone levels. We address the same mechanism through hormonal stabilization, neuroplasticity support, and targeted IVNT β€” initiated at delivery, before the crash completes.

The P4 Protocol β€” Peak Postpartum Prevention Protocol β€” begins at 36–38 weeks gestation. Not after the crisis. Before it.

If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or working with patients who are β€” this protocol exists. It is Reno and Tahoe's only neuroplasticity-based postpartum prevention program.

Neural Reset β€” one of the fastest interventions we have, and one of the least known.

The premise: trauma, surgery, chronic pain, and inflammatory conditions can create "interference fields" β€” areas of disrupted bioelectrical activity in the nervous system that perpetuate dysfunction far from the original site. These interference fields maintain a state of chronic sympathetic activation that no medication can resolve, because the disruption is architectural, not chemical.

Neural therapy uses targeted subdermal injections of procaine β€” a local anesthetic β€” into nerve ganglia, scars, and autonomic relay centers to interrupt these patterns and reset the electrical baseline of the affected pathways.

The clinical result can be rapid: autonomic normalization, HPA axis downregulation, reduction in pain and hypervigilance, and a measurable shift in sympathetic tone within hours of treatment.

My neural therapy training comes directly from two of the most accomplished practitioners in North America. This intervention is not widely available in psychiatric settings. At Peak Body and Mind, it is often the first thing we offer in Week 1 β€” because nothing else works as fast when the underlying issue is autonomic dysregulation.

If you have been in treatment for years without resolution, ask yourself whether anyone has ever looked at the electrical architecture of your nervous system.

Most haven't.
