Another major fire in our region has reminded us how quickly conditions can change.

When an evacuation order is issued, there may not be time to search for medications, documents, pet supplies or other essentials. Preparing a Go Bag now can help you leave safely and without unnecessary delays when every minute matters.

Our Tech Med crews were proud to assist with recent evacuation efforts and support our community during a frightening and uncertain time. Caring for our community means responding when we are needed, but it also means helping our neighbors prepare before an emergency begins.

Wildfire smoke can travel far beyond the flames. Even when a fire is miles away, the smoke may still affect your health.

Burning eyes, coughing, headaches, wheezing, chest tightness and shortness of breath can all be signs of smoke exposure. Children, older adults, pregnant individuals and people with heart or lung conditions may face greater risk.

During smoky conditions, check the local air quality, limit time outdoors, close windows and doors and keep necessary medications nearby. Contact your healthcare provider if you develop new or worsening symptoms. Severe difficulty breathing or chest pain is an emergency. Call 911.

Caring for our community also means helping one another recognize when it is time to seek help. Save this information and share it with someone you care about.

These past few weeks have asked so much of our community.

Through each fire and every rapidly changing situation, firefighters, first responders, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, emergency management teams, local officials, volunteers and neighbors stepped forward. Many worked long days and sleepless nights to protect the people and places we call home.

At Tech Med, we are proud to have served alongside these dedicated teams and supported evacuation efforts when our community needed us. Every agency, responder and helping hand became part of something greater: a community caring for its own.

To everyone who answered the call, thank you. Your courage, compassion and commitment have made a difference that will not be forgotten.

The Hawk Fire has left a lasting impact on our community.

Our hearts are with every family who lost a home, every person recovering from an injury and every neighbor who was displaced or left facing uncertainty. Behind every evacuation and every damaged structure are people whose lives changed in a matter of moments.

During the response, Tech Med was honored to work alongside local fire crews, first responders, law enforcement officers, emergency management teams, public officials, volunteers and neighbors. Each person brought their experience, courage and compassion to one shared purpose: protecting our community.

We have tremendous respect for those who worked long hours under dangerous conditions to help others reach safety. We are also deeply grateful for every person who opened a shelter, offered a room, cared for an animal, donated supplies or supported a neighbor.

As the response continues and recovery begins, rebuilding will take time. Tech Med remains committed to serving Northern Nevada and standing beside our neighbors through the difficult days ahead.
