On October 1—Latinx Physician Day—Latino Medical Student Association Plus (LMSA+) at the University of Nevada, Reno will bring together Latino physicians, PAs, and healthcare leaders to share their journeys in medicine with the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We’re proud to see Dr. Maria Fernandez, Community Health Alliance Medical Director, participating alongside other local physicians and leaders for an evening of conversation, mentorship, and inspiration.

For many of the students, hearing directly from providers who share their backgrounds can make a powerful difference. It’s a reminder that their goals are possible and that there is a place for them in healthcare.

Diego is recognized for his leadership, teamwork and dedication to supporting both his colleagues and our patients. He leads by example, steps in when help is needed and brings a positive, dependable approach to everything he does. His organization, preparation, and willingness to support others help our care teams stay ready to provide the quality, respectful care our patients deserve.

Kyle is being recognized for his commitment to learning, problem-solving, and supporting our teams behind the scenes. This year, he went above and beyond to support our Patient-Centered Medical Home efforts, including completing chart audits across CHA facilities. His attention to detail and dedication to improving the way we work helps strengthen the systems that support our patients and care teams every day.

While much of their work happens behind the scenes, Diego and Kyle both play an important role in creating a better experience for the people we serve. Their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to doing their best reflect what patient-centered care is all about.
