A Reno native is staying right here, at home, to care for kids.

Bailey Ivory, a University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine student in the Class of 2026, is set to begin her pediatrics residency in Reno this season. E-bikes are growing in popularity, and so are preventable crashes among young riders. As of 2025, there were 25 e-bike related crashes in Washoe County alone, and the average rider age was just over 13 years old.

Incline Middle School recently partnered with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Renown Children's Hospital and Village Ski Loft to help students learn the rules of the road, helmet safety and basic bike mechanics.

Myth: Psychiatric medications should always be stopped immediately as soon as you get pregnant.

Fact: Stopping medications abruptly without consulting your doctor can be dangerous, and it’s important to ask your provider for the full picture.

Mental health conditions during pregnancy are more common than you may think. Pregnancy is often a joyful time for many people, but for others, it can also be a period of depression, anxiety and other psychiatric conditions.

Dr. Carissa Klarich, psychiatry resident at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, and Dr. Sarin Pakhdikian, psychiatric resident at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, touch on this important topic. How do referrals work?

1. Your primary care provider sends a referral and your medical records to the specialist’s office.

2. The specialist’s office may call you to schedule, or you can call them. Processing times may vary.

3. After your visit, the specialist develops a treatment plan, which may need prior authorization.

All month long, Reno Costco employees and members are raising funds to help local kids just like LeAnne. LeAnne's life changed on April 8, 2024, when ongoing back pain sent her to the emergency room at Renown Children's Hospital. There, she was diagnosed with ALL T-cell leukemia, a fast-growing blood cancer that affects the immune system. Since then, she has faced surgery, countless transfusions, intensive chemotherapy, lumbar punctures and long hospital stays. LeAnne is now 17 years old, loves driving her truck, and is looking forward to ringing the bell this year on Aug. 12.

Donate to Children's Miracle Network at the Costco register to help for children in our community.
