Our social skills group took a sweet trip to Cold Stone to practice the flow of everyday conversation! Our group worked on understanding cues in a conversation, keep chit-chat going, and smoothly shifting topics. Real-world practice, meaningful connections, and of course… a little ice cream sprinkled in! 🍨💛🍦🌈

Two of our favorite faces at Desert Horizon! They may not handle insurance authorizations, treatment plans, or scheduling… but they’re pretty great at bringing a little extra joy to the office when they stop by!

We’re excited to introduce you to Alysha Sauer, our Co-Founder, Administrative Director, and BCBA! Alysha has a passion for helping others and creating meaningful change for the individuals and families we serve. She also helps keep things running behind the scenes, managing our administrative operations and insurance coordination—two things we simply couldn’t do without!

We’re so grateful for everything Alysha brings to Desert Horizon and the heart she puts into supporting our team and families. 🌵🤍

Social skills groups are a fun and meaningful way for children to practice building connections, communicating with others, and navigating everyday social situations in a supportive environment! 🩷

Through structured activities, play, modeling, and peer interactions, social skills groups can help individuals:
🗣️ Build communication and conversation skills
🤝 Develop sharing, turn-taking, and cooperation
👀 Practice understanding social cues and perspectives
💬 Learn how to initiate and maintain interactions
🧩 Develop problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
🌟 Build confidence and independence in social settings

One of the biggest benefits? Skills practiced in a group setting can be more easily generalized to real-world interactions with peers.

Two years ago, we set out with a vision of creating a place where neurodivergent individuals and their families could find support, connection, growth, and belonging. Today, we are overwhelmed with gratitude as we reflect on how far we’ve come.

Over the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of supporting incredible clients, collaborating with amazing families, building meaningful community partnerships, expanding our services, and watching so many individuals reach goals they once thought were out of reach.
