Last night a dear client and friend took me to see Bonnie Raitt, someone I’d honestly written off. I’d decided, without ever really listening, that she wasn’t “my kind of music.”

I was so wrong.

It was beyond fantastic. Completely sold out every seat! The musicianship, the voice, the class, the blues, the funk, pure quality from start to finish. I sat there completely moved.

Here’s what stayed with me: how often do we close a door before we’ve even looked through it? We decide we know. We decide it’s not for us. We miss something beautiful.

The gift wasn’t just the music. My friend knew me well enough to say “trust me” and she was right.
