We tend to celebrate productivity: Do more. Work harder. Keep going.
But your body isn’t designed to operate at full speed indefinitely.
Rest supports physical recovery, attention, learning, emotional processing, and overall well-being. Even athletes intentionally schedule recovery because they understand that improvement doesn’t happen through effort alone.
And rest doesn’t always mean sleeping.
It might mean sitting quietly for ten minutes, taking a slow walk, meditating, listening to music, spending time outside, or attending a sound bath.
Rest isn’t the opposite of productivity. It’s part of the cycle that makes sustained activity possible.
