How do I know when my loved one needs care beyond what I can provide?

Family circumstances can unexpectedly change. Family member caregivers may find they have to relocate or are unable to spend as much time providing care to their loved ones. Or they may feel that their loved one’s condition has changed to the point where they need additional care.

Signs to look for include an inability to keep up with the activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and preparing meals.

🥶❄️ Stay warm and safe! A brisk cold front is on the horizon. Let's rally together to ensure our elderly, ill community and family members are snug and secure. Check in on your neighbors, offer assistance, and share warmth. Small gestures make a big difference! Here’s a checklist just in case you need some help on how to be prepared!

1. **Heating:** Confirm heating systems are functional and have ample fuel.
2. **Insulation:** Ensure proper insulation to retain warmth.
3. **Emergency Kit:** Prepare a kit with blankets, warm clothing, medications, and essentials.
4. **Food Supply:** Stock up on non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food items.
5. **Backup Power:** Have a generator or alternative power source in case of outages.
6. **Communication Plan:** Establish a reliable communication plan with neighbors, friends, or caregivers.
