Today is my birthday, and I got a pretty great gift this month: a feature in Modern Luxury’s Dynamic Women 2026 issue. To celebrate, I’m sharing some behind-the-scenes from that shoot. ✨

It happened at The Logan here in Philadelphia, and honestly, what a day. Full glam, a whole team behind the lens, and a few hours to step back and think about what “dynamic” actually means to me.

For me, dynamic means building something from scratch and not stopping to ask permission. I came to the US from Ukraine when I was 15. After school, I spent a decade in corporate marketing before I walked away to start Vitalia Inc. Twenty years later, the passion hasn’t faded. If anything, it’s bolder than ever.

Luxury is not a transaction. It is a relationship built one handshake, one detail, one delivered promise at a time.

Designers, this is why we reach for ripplefold on a wall of glass like this.

The fold holds its shape across the full width, so a run of floor-to-ceiling windows never bunches once it's pushed open. On a bold print like this one, that consistency also keeps the repeat true across every fold instead of going crooked.

For high-rise living, we're pairing more of these with automated tracks. The view is the whole reason someone bought the unit, but privacy still has to arrive in a single touch, not a hand-over-hand pull across dozens of feet of drapery.

Drapery is usually one of the last layers to go up in a room.

By the time we arrive for install, the walls are painted, the furniture is set, the doors are hung. In this whole-home collaboration with Stephanie Kraus, the wall of windows and French doors was one of the final pieces to fall into place. Watching it come together is still one of our favorite parts of the process.

Twenty years in, that reveal moment still gets us. Every time.

Hospitality Tip No. 02 — Drapery for restaurants: acoustics and the soft layer.

The drapery is doing two jobs at once in a restaurant. Designers who understand both end up with rooms that feel as good as they look.

1. Hard surfaces amplify. Stone floors, plaster walls, glass...a room full of them creates a din that no amount of beautiful furniture fixes. Drapery, and specifically lined and interlined drapery, absorbs sound in a way nothing else in the room can.

2. Lining weight matters more than fabric weight. An interlined panel absorbs significantly more sound than an unlined one in the same fabric. Specify interlining on restaurant drapery as a standard, not an upgrade.

3. Coverage is the variable. A single drapery panel on one wall does less acoustic work than panels on two or three walls. In a chef-driven concept where the room is the experience, full coverage is worth the conversation with the client.

4. The soft layer is also the design layer. The acoustic argument makes the budget conversation easier. The drapery isn't just beautiful. It's functional infrastructure for the guest experience.

A sliding glass door and a fireplace wall don't usually get styled to match.

In this Main Line living room, we built a shared system: stationary drapery panels in the same green trellis print on both walls, and an inverted box pleat valance mounted on a fabric-covered board with blackout lining and a decorative cord trim along the bottom edge. Behind it all, classic blinds still handle the everyday work of privacy and light control. Grateful to collaborate with Joe Berkowitz of JAB Design Group on this one.

Hospitality Project Notes — No. 02.

Amenity lobby, stationary drapery on recessed ceiling tracks, 210 South 12th Street.

In partnership with Milestone Purchasing. Midtown Village, Philadelphia. Architecture by RSHP, the firm founded by Pritzker Prize winner Richard Rogers.

On paper, this one looked simple: stationary panels, ceiling-mount rods. In practice, the rods needed to recess into the ceiling so the track disappears and the panels read as if they're floating. That meant cutting a channel directly into the ceiling, measured and scored by hand before a single cut was made, with the entire lobby tarped first to keep dust off finishes that couldn't be touched.

Our lead installer, Lenny Burkhardt, did the cutting, the hanging, and the dressing himself. Precise work in a space that couldn't afford a mistake.

An arch changes the math.

This one measured just over 96 inches at its tallest point, 64 inches across, arch included. Get the return wrong by half an inch and the whole room reads off before you can say why.

This guest suite is one room in a much larger whole home project with . It was not the only arched window on the job. Every one of them asked the same question in a different way.

We fabricated and installed lined drapery built to the exact geometry of this window, since the math only gets you the fit. The artistry is what happens once the panels are actually hanging in the room.

One of my favorite projects this summer was a custom cornice that gave us a real puzzle to solve.

Slanted ceilings and a roller shade and draperies underneath meant we needed an exact template before fabrication could even start. Once it was built in our Bucks County Atelier, there was only one way to get it into the 4th-floor bedroom in Ocean City, NJ. Lenny, a rope, and a carefully executed hoist. Whatever it takes to get the job done right, and with Lenny, that's never in question.

Grateful to collaborate with Michele Plachter Design on projects where the path isn't straightforward, and to have a team that never shies away from a challenge. Not a bad place to spend a workday either.

Some of our favorite projects come with more than a finished room. ✨

This whole-home collaboration with Liz Walton Home started in this foyer with custom bench cushions. From there, we fabricated drapery, Roman shades, more bench cushions, and pillows throughout the home. Each piece was tailored to the room it lives in, but working together as one cohesive whole.

A couple of years ago, Liz and her team came out to our atelier for a Lunch & Learn. We talked fabric, process, the realities of custom work. Afterward, she sent us a note. We still have it.

Since then, we've collaborated with Liz on project after project. That's the part of this work that doesn't always make it into a photo. The window treatments were just the first reason we got to know each other. The relationship we've built and the happy clients along the way are the reason we keep doing this.

Partway into installing this arched cornice board trio, part of a phased Malvern new-build we've been collaborating on with AKD Interiors, our team caught something a rendering can't always show you. The design wasn't blocking the light and hardware the way it needed to.

We stopped immediately and went back to the atelier. We'd rather get it right than move forward with something subpar.

This is where having an in-house team makes the difference. Our project managers, fabricators, and installers all know this project across every phase, not a rotating cast handing off pieces of the puzzle with no context. When everyone understands the whole picture, nothing slips through the cracks.

Anybody can sew a drape. But can they do the complicated one, the nuanced style, the difficult site condition, the project where everything has to be in step with every other partner in the room? That's when designers call us.
