What you see and what you don't see are doing equal amounts of work in this primary bath.

The Mock London Valances in Stout Textiles' Cleopatra fabric are the design moment. Pronounced swag elements, inverted pleats, interlined for body and weight, with a weight bar holding the lowest point of each swag exactly in place. Three windows in an octagonal space, each one matched and consistent.

Behind them, invisible when the valances are dressed: three cordless blackout roller shades. Because a primary bath needs privacy and light control as much as it needs beauty.

This is what it means to specify a window treatment rather than just cover a window.

Save this for your next primary bath project.

Some people come into your professional life and genuinely change how you think. LuAnn Nigara is one of those people for me.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of being featured on her podcast, speaking at her events, and staying up together way too late at her High Point house. Every experience has sharpened how I think about leadership, business, and what it really means to build something sustainable.

So when LuAnn launched Boardroom for Creatives, a platform built to help creative professionals build more profitable, structured, and sustainable businesses, and asked me to be part of the inaugural class of Board Members, I said yes without hesitation.

I am honored to be in this company and thrilled to bring what I have learned running Vitalia Inc. for twenty years to the professionals who need it most. Sometimes you don't need a six-month program. You need one strategic hour with someone who's been there before.

If you are a creative professional ready for focused, trusted guidance from vetted experts, this platform was built for you ➡️ boardroomforcreatives.com/

A front-facing room has a problem to solve. You want the light. You don't want to feel like you're on display.

In this family room, Stephanie Kraus Designs solved it with layering. A sheer faux-linen underlayer keeps the room bright and open while creating just enough of a veil from the street. The Stout Dayglow plaid over the top adds warmth and pattern without closing the room in. Installed at the crown molding on a double rod with satin brass hardware, the whole wall draws the eye up and makes a small room feel considered rather than cramped.

The difference speaks for itself.

Linen fabric filters light in a way no other material quite replicates, softening a room without dimming it. In a sunny Berwyn, PA breakfast room like this, that quality is everything.

But linen has a mind of its own. It absorbs moisture, it responds to temperature, and can grow or shrink. Getting the length exactly right requires hanging the panels, watching the fabric, and hemming only when it has fully settled. There are no shortcuts.

Shortcuts aren't really our style anyway.

Hospitality Project Notes: No. 01.
Angeloni's Club Madrid, Atlantic City, NJ
Designed in partnership with ROHE Creative

Scope: Restaurant lounge — fully draped immersive environment, with tented Moroccan-inspired ceiling canopy engineered from measured triangular fabric sections, custom wall drapery panels covering the full perimeter, bespoke wooden mounting ring at the chandelier apex, custom perimeter frame with precision-placed anchors and brackets. Every register, smoke detector, security camera, and code-required access point remained fully functional and visually integrated.

This room started as a plain, unfinished back space with exposed walls, visible utilities, a blank ceiling, and no architectural character to work with. Rohe Creative's brief was to turn it into a fully immersive Moroccan-inspired escape lounge. The kind of room where a guest walks in and forgets they are in the back of a restaurant in Atlantic City.

The ceiling was the engineering challenge. To achieve the tented canopy, we physically mapped the drape lines directly in the space and drafted the ceiling as measured triangular sections, each one fabricated to gather dramatically toward a custom-crafted wooden mounting ring framing the chandelier. The concrete walls required a custom perimeter frame built from scratch, with every anchor precisely placed to support the full installation. Panels were custom-sized to navigate every obstruction while maintaining unbroken seam alignment and pattern continuity across the entire room. From the outside it reads as one continuous draped environment. From the inside it is hundreds of individual decisions that had to be exactly right.

This was our first project with award winning interior design team at Eberlein, for a Philadelphia penthouse on the 31st floor.

Seven windows over 300 inches wide. Fabric that melted under heat and had to be hemmed on site. Scaffolding that didn’t fit, and Lenny climbing a ladder balanced on a window stanchion to get the job done.

This is why you build a team. Not for the easy days. For the ones that test everything you have.
