Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Tri-Cities Chaplaincy provides compassionate hospice, palliative, and grief care, helping people live their best lives.

Hospice care is available where ever the patient calls home. This may be their own home, a skilled nursing facility, adult family home or assisted living facility. The Hospice House is available for patients whose symptoms need professional management in an inpatient setting. In addition, hospice patients may also come to the hospice house when their caregiver needs rest from the care giving responsibilities. Grief Support groups are available to families who have had a loved one in our hospice program AND the community at large. Visit www.chaplaincyhealthcare.org/grief-care for a list of support groups. Cork's Place is a grief support program designed specifically for children, teens and their families. Allowing children to grieve and process their grief with peers is extremely valuable as they move toward emotional healing. Our Teen Room is a private, safe environment exclusively for ages 13–18. It provides a space where teens can build connections, share experiences, and participate in activities in a way that feels comfortable for them.

Sessions start with introductions and a group activity. After the activity, participants are welcome to explore the other available rooms or remain in the teen room. While teens are encouraged to participate in whichever space feels most comfortable, many choose to spend the remainder of the session in the Teen Room, enjoying the opportunity to be with others their own age in a supportive setting.

Yesterday, we had the wonderful opportunity to attend our first event hosted by our Impact partners at Tapteal Elementary!

We had so much fun sharing resources and connecting with local families and seeing the students' participate in fun learning activities. Being Impact Partners with Tapteal makes it possible for us to reach more of our community and share all the support and resources we have to offer! This past week, Tri-Cities Chaplaincy had the opportunity to host tables and share resources at both the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Senior Times Expo!

Thank you to the Alzheimer's Association and Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business for hosting these incredible events. We loved connecting with so many members of our community and listening to their stories. Welcome back! Today, we’re taking you inside the Circle Room at Cork’s Place.

The Circle Room sets the foundation for everything we do at Cork’s Place. It’s where participants—ages 3 to 16—begin and end every session. To start, groups spend 15–20 minutes connecting through a group activity and introductions to help build trust, comfort, and a safe environment.

While sharing is always encouraged, we strongly honor the "I Pass" rule—giving every participant the freedom to share only when they feel ready.

Like our medical team, Chaplains play a vital role for families with hospice services. This month, we want to shed light on one of our amazing Chaplains. Chad Nygren is one of our Chaplains and has been with Tri-Cities Chaplaincy for two years!

Chad said that his favorite part of working as a Chaplain at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy is seeing small miracles and moments of hope in difficult times. Chad even said that he is inspired by the love and dedication of the care team here at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy.

Our team provided deep and meaningful care to each patient and their families.

But Chad says that the most impactful moment he has experienced working at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy was when he was working with a family that was nervous to take their loved one home from the hospital.

"Through our team-based approach, we were able to come alongside the family, provide support and guidance, and empower them to care for their dad at home at the best level possible. Watching their perspective change from, 'This is impossible,' to a place of confidence and hope was incredibly inspirational. It was a powerful reminder of what can happen when families are surrounded by the right support and empowered to recognize their own strength." - Chad Nygren

We are so grateful to 3 Eyed Fish Kitchen + Bar for choosing Tri-Cities Chaplaincy as the beneficiary for the proceeds of this years Hot Rod Round Up. We greatly appreciate the support you have given us to help us work to guide the community to living their best lives—even, and especially, through the end of life.

Last week some of our team got to go to the Hot Rod Round Up to look at all the impressive cars at the show. We even got to see a car that was previously owned by Cork Simmelink, who were big supporters of Tri-Cities Chaplaincy. They generously donated a house to dedicate a space for kid's to grieve in a safe space. Tri-Cities Chaplaincy made Cork's and Audrey's mission into Cork's Place Kid's Grief Center.

Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one or experiencing another type of significant loss, Cork's Place Kids Grief Center offers guidance in a safe and supportive environment where children and teens can learn to navigate their grief and strengthen their emotional wellness.

The program is a 5-week program.

Your impactful grief experience doesn't have to be recent. Whether it happened a week, a year, or even a decade ago, support is available.

Cork's Place and our Bereavement programs are offered at no charge to participants thanks to the generosity of our community.

Today we begin our tour of Cork's Place. Join us for the next few weeks where we will explore each room of Cork's Place Kid's Grief Center.

Cork's Place is a unique facility where children and teens ages 3-18 participate in a 5-week program where they explore grief through hands-on activities, creative expression, and peer connections. Cork's Place is offered at no cost to families thanks to the generosity of our community.

A couple of key details about the waiting area of Cork's Place are the Cork's Place mural and Susan's Corner. The mural was paid for by our amazing community and was painted by Heidi Elkington. Susan's Corner is a community library where children, teens, and adults can visit the facility to browse and borrow books in Spanish and English that focus on grief and emotional wellness.
