Shaunti was awarded financial aid but not enough to cover the total cost of school. we will have to pay about $9600 per semester for a total of roughly $20,0000 this school year. Rayshaunti Williams is the youngest of my children. She recently graduated from De Anza High School as an honor student in the Health Academy. Shaunti as she is affectionately known to friends and family has managed to maintain above a 3.0 cumulative GPA and 4.0 GPA during her junior and senior. She was afforded many college and university admissions offers and has chosen to follow her heart to Xavier University in Louisiana where she will majoring in Pre-Med with a focus in psychology. Shaunti is aspiring to become a Obstetrics and Gynecology physician in the Bay Area where she can serve her community. With that in mind this journey will be costly but we are committed. This fundraiser has been established to assist us with securing making Shaunti’s journey as debt free as possible as we anticipate a minimum of 8 years for her to reach her dream.
Shaunti has been consistently recognized as an distinguished West Contra Costa African American Students of Honor. She has served as the press/media leader for the Black Student Union at De Anza. She also served as a “link crew leader,” which is a peer mentoring program. Shaunti was partnered with a freshman at the beginning of the year and Shaunti was her support with accessing resources and navigation of her first year on the high school campus. In addition she has assisted with hosting college fairs and tutoring.
Rayshaunti has always planned on going to college and has been intentional about taking advantage of opportunities that would help her to accomplish that goal. She was an active participant of Mill Upward Bound program where she was able to take college workshops, learn more about prerequisites for medical school and build a network of peers who also share her interest of pursing higher education. Shaunti also was given an opportunity to participate in the College Trio Program at Cal Berkeley where she took collegiate math courses. Math is Rayshaunti’s favorite subject.
