Myth: If your X-rays shows arthritis, you need a joint replacement
False
If your x-rays show arthritis, you may need a joint replacement. Hereโs why What is arthritis? It is abnormal boney formations and inflammation of the joints. You would think with that explanation the only way to fix it with surgery. However, there is no evidence that shows that targeted appropriate-level exercises worsen arthritis or surrounding joint integrity. Think about if you have or had arthritis in a joint, such as the knees, the first few steps getting out of chair are pretty painfulโฆ but then what happens. The more you move the better the pain gets. If arthritic pain were due to mechanical bone scraping, wouldnโt you expect the pain to get worse? And therapy to show increased wear and tear to the joint? But thatโs not what the evidence shows! Want to test it out for yourself?
