After 5.5 years of writing my dream book, it is finally here!! Counting Colors, Not Calories: A Shift From Restriction And Scarcity To Abundance And Beauty. What is the Counting Colors philosophy and how can it support your self-care and holistic health?

I describe in depth how these three facets characterize and shape an evolution of your holistic health:

The physical. The nutritional information rooted in science. If I was to over-simplify my food philosophy, it would be to eat real food while balancing your blood sugar.

The mental and emotional. This encompasses the mindset shifts you can undergo in order to start thinking about food, health, your body, and yourself in a more positive light.

The spiritual. The deeper work comes with finding true happiness. The emotions you are wanting to feel come with both cultivating your spiritual health, and connecting with your true, authentic self.

I have been thinking about my creativity lately. I used to have this story that I was not creative, which I have since traced back to an experience in elementary school when a teacher told me I couldn’t draw. Funny how things stick with you well into adulthood. Food photography was my true first foray into an artistic endeavor. I’m so grateful it helped to ignite that spark.

my husband asked me this morning - after noticing that I’ve been doing a lot more writing than photography - why I haven’t been taking as many pictures. I made up some lame excuse about it being winter and the natural light not being as optimal, but afterwards I realized how much photography brings out my perfectionism, and I tend to beat myself up the most when an image doesn’t manifest as I originally envisioned it. This is very uncomfortable. But it’s a block you must push through. If I compare these images to the ones I shot 10 years ago, the improvement didn’t happen overnight; it’s only because I kept practicing, getting better day after day.

I have been a barre instructor for over 10 years. The plank series is often how I begin my classes, and the straight-arm plank in particular is one of the most effective full-body exercises. Not only is it a sure-fire way to drop into your physical body, but it also engages most major muscle groups from your thighs to your core to your arms. When I am teaching, it is my responsibility to constantly be looking around the room. In addition to hands-on adjustments, I am offering cues to help class participants maintain proper form in order for them to make the most of their workout, while keeping their bodies safe.

In a article, I outlined common misalignment mistakes I often observe, while offering some tips and cues to keep in mind to help you find proper form in your plank position.
