Incredible news! MyChart is now the leading national pathway for organ donor registration. 💙💚
In the year since Donate Life America and Epic connected MyChart to the National Donate Life Registry, more than 250,000 people have used MyChart to sign up as organ donors, making it the nation’s leading organ donor registration pathway.
The MyChart organ donor registration feature allows patients to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors directly through the portal they already use to manage their care. More than 220 organizations representing 1,300 hospitals and 27,000 clinics have made the feature available to their patients, and even more organizations are implementing it.

When June was younger, her brother, Brian, went into kidney failure. Her dad, a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, was able to be Brian's living kidney donor. After nearly 20 years with his donated kidney, Brian was in need of another transplant. Now much older, June was able to get tested to be her brother's living donor, and in 2005, June and Brian underwent a successful transplant. Thanks to the generosity of June and her dad, their family had many more years with Brian, but sadly, Brian passed away from organ failure in 2014. Now, June is a living kidney donor herself and an advocate for donation, volunteering and competing in the Transplant Games of America. 💙💚 Register your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor and learn more about living donation at DonateLife.net

On , we honor the individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Corporal Benjamin S. Kopp, a member of the 75th Army Ranger Regiment, saved six of his comrades when his unit came under attack in Afghanistan. He was mortally wounded and saved four more lives back in the United States through his selfless gift of organ donation. To honor Corporal Kopp and all other brave soldiers who became organ, eye and tissue donors, the Fallen Soldier statue stands at the United Network for Organ Sharing National Donor Memorial and honors members of our military who made organ, eye, and tissue donation their last courageous act of service. The site is a place of peace for all who wish to honor the gift of life! 💙💚

"Our family experienced a devastating loss of Martin, a vibrant 22-year-old. While we were reeling from our sorrow, we discovered that Martin had already chosen to be an organ donor: when he applied for his driver’s license at age 16, he registered as one. That was simply the kind of person he was—even as a teenager, he had the heart and mind to serve others.

While we knew of his kindness, we hadn't known about this selfless decision until after we were facing his loss. Knowing he had made such a noble choice helped us navigate the pain of losing such a precious young man. Shortly after, we were dealt another devastating blow with the loss of Martin's mother, Vickie. As an RN, she was always helping to serve others through her job. She served and volunteered in many capacities through her profession in her church, schools, and children’s activities. She was proud of the person that her young son had become. When faced with her loss, we knew without a doubt that she wanted to be a donor as well.

Martin and Vickie both loved their family, and the two young girls in the picture know the legacy left by their uncle and granny. Butterflies represent transformation and new life- just like organ donation gives others a second chance to live, grow and thrive. This is why I chose to let the girls be butterflies on the flower petals. Their decision to say "yes" didn’t take away our grief, but it gave our pain a purpose." 💙💚 Thank you to Clidene for sharing her family's story with us and sending in this winning photo to the Blue & Green Day photo Contest

At age 25, Maria was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive kidney disease. After two decades of battling the disease, her kidneys eventually went into complete failure. She was referred to the Mayo Clinic to begin the process of evaluation and placement on the kidney transplant waiting list. After a procedure to remove a mass on her right kidney, Maria started daily dialysis treatments. Her sister traveled from North Carolina to be with her and shared Maria's story on social media, asking friends and family to consider becoming a living donor. A cousin they had never met reached out after seeing the message. Maria's transplant took place in June of 2022. The surgery was successful, and because of her cousin's generosity, Maria was given a second chance at life. "Today, I am blessed to be here, healthy and able to enjoy life again. My son will graduate from high school [this month], and I look forward to watching him build a beautiful future. This journey taught me that miracles are real, that family can arrive in unexpected ways, and that a single act of love can save a life." 💙💚 Thanks to Maria for sending in her story to us! "This journey has reshaped me in ways I never expected. It has taught me resilience, patience, and the true meaning of strength. Most importantly, it has given me a deeper appreciation for life, for time, and for every moment I get to spend with my family." 💙💚
Shayla was diagnosed with heart disease in her junior year of college. While her peers were focused on their classes, internships, and the excitement of young adulthood, she was suddenly faced with learning how to live with a failing heart. Over time, she managed her condition and eventually felt strong enough for major milestones: love, marriage, and a family. Choosing to have a baby was not a simple decision; Shayla's pregnancy was considered high risk due to her heart condition, and those risks became reality when she went into advanced heart failure, and her son was born prematurely at 28 weeks. Six months postpartum, Shayla went into end-stage heart failure and was placed on the transplant waiting list. Finally, in August 2025, Shayla received the call that a donor heart was available. "When the call finally came, my family and friends were overjoyed. I felt something different. At first, I was numb. Then came a deep sadness as I understood what that call meant, that another family was experiencing a profound loss at the very moment my life was about to be changed. As I prepared for surgery, that sadness gradually shifted into gratitude. I carry a deep appreciation for my donor and their family, whose gift gave me a second chance." Today, Shayla is 9 months post-transplant, and her son is a year old.

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to highlight the recipient of our 2025 Donate Life America Excellence in Education Award! Charles Hart Middle School began collaborating with Infinite Legacy in 2023, becoming the first to pilot their STEM Donation Curriculum developed in collaboration with Howard University. Principal Charlette Butler-Strickland (pictured left in first photo)’s leadership and commitment to education equity was evident as she ensured the curriculum was developmentally appropriate, engaging and aligned with student needs.

Principal Strickland went above and beyond to integrate organ donation education into school culture. She welcomed Infinite Legacy into the school for pep rallies that energized students, hosted week-long co-taught donation lessons, and supported immersive learning field trips to Infinite Legacy for simulation lab tours and career fairs.

During National Donate Life Month, she promotes awareness, and she and her staff have inspired other organizations to launch similar initiatives. Her dedication reflects a strong commitment to educational innovation and community health engagement. Thank you! 💙💚

"Elizabeth, a lifelong caretaker as both a teacher and a nurse, began her career in the Philippines before immigrating to the U.S. She has always devoted herself to caring for others. After months in the hospital, she received her new heart on Good Friday—just six days before her 70th birthday. She calls it her own “rebirth,” a moment filled with deep spiritual meaning and hope. Just two months later, she met her first grandchild, and another shortly after. Now, with a third on the way, her second chance at life has given her the energy to continue giving to others and be the best Lola she can be. None of this would have been possible without the tender care, love, and patience of the hospital staff—and most importantly, the incredible selflessness of her donor. Her second chance at life continues to inspire, showing how one gift can change the lives of many." 💙💚

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month! Currently, there are more than 10,000 people from this community on the national transplant waiting list, hoping for a second chance at life. You can help! Age is just a number when it comes to organ, eye and tissue donation. Back in February, at 100 years old, Dale "Duffy" Steele of Nebraska became the country's oldest organ donor, his gift of a liver allowing his generous legacy to live on. Last month in Pennsylvania, Peggy Fields donated her liver upon her passing at 97, giving life to a woman in Florida.

May is ! It's a time to celebrate the power of older Americans to guide and inspire us. Did you know that almost 50% of deceased organ donors are over 55? Don't rule yourself out to give the gift of life. Generosity is ageless! 💙💚 We can all help save and heal lives by registering online as an organ, eye, and tissue donor at RegisterMe.org.
