This weekend was all fun and games for us!

Our Career Readiness & Employment graduate, Henry, turned the Commonwealth Autism cafe into a buzzing gaming lounge for his Neuroinclusive Gaming Social. Whether it was solo adventures in Mario Bros or teaming up to take out final bosses in Final Fantasy, our crew had a blast sharing snacks, exciting games & fun conversation.

Brewing Opportunities is coming soon! Commonwealth Autism is partnering with Afterglow Coffee to open our very own coffee cart. We spent an afternoon with 6 CRE graduates at Afterglow, learning about coffee roasting and tasting blends. Together, we tasted four delicious roasts and brainstormed fun flavor combinations. Stay tuned for our cart launching this summer!

Our latest Career Readiness & Employment cohort is in full swing! Cohort 8 began in the classroom where our interns will learn critical professional skills for the next four weeks. Our interns met our Good Foods Grocery managers & CRE job coaches for the first time before jumping into learning all about workplace safety. Coming up next: our interns will practice filling out job applications, interviewing & adjusting to new work environments!

This week, associates from Cherry Bekaert spent the day serving alongside us for their Volunteer Day of Service. Our All Abilities Innovation Center received some much-needed TLC through landscaping, organizing supplies, and painting our conference room. Their hard work gave our building a fresh lift, and we’re incredibly grateful they took time out of their day to support our mission in such a meaningful way.

Commonwealth Autism offers employment training, social groups, and educational supports aimed at supporting adolescents and adults as they navigate the challenges of adulthood in Richmond, VA. Our programs focus on career readiness and employment supports for adults who are able to work independently with some support.
