ChildSavers works hard to support children in the Richmond area through counseling and therapeutic services to overcome trauma and build resilience. But when presented with the opportunity to serve pregnant and postpartum individuals impacted by perinatal mood disorders, they recognized the importance for both the health of the parent but as well as their children.

ChildSavers is accepting pregnant and postpartum patients in need of counseling services for in-person and virtual appointments. Visit https://www.childsavers.org/services/itav/ to complete an online referral form or call (804) 644-9590 for services. ChildSavers accepts Medicaid and private insurance and can offer services at low or no cost.

Newly Released: Profile of Virginia’s Uninsured

Virginia’s uninsured rate increased slightly in 2024, rising from a historic low of 7.6% in 2023 to 8.1% in 2024, according to our latest Profile of Virginia’s Uninsured, developed by our partners at the Urban Institute.

The increase mirrors national trends following the end of the COVID-era Medicaid continuous coverage requirement and the return to regular Medicaid renewals (known as "unwinding").

A Tree Planted Counseling (ATPC) takes pride in providing professional and compassionate support to its clients while providing behavioral health services that align with community needs. ATPC recognized the need for perinatal mental health services in Roanoke and the surrounding areas, but as an It Takes a Village grantee, it was able to hire a new counselor, Robin Witt, LPC to support perinatal clients locally and across the Commonwealth.

ATP has appointments available virtually statewide or in-person in Roanoke.
