I breastfeed.
Not because I think I’m better.
Not because I judge another mama’s choice.
Not because I want attention.
Not because I want to show my body.

I breastfeed…
Because it feels right for me.
Because my baby finds comfort and nourishment at my chest.
Because this is how nature designed us.
Because this is what works for our family.

That’s it. No agenda. Just love, milk, and my baby.

“Controversial” Breastfeeding Truths I Wish I Knew With My First Baby

No one told me the truth.

Not the full-bodied, heart-softening, sacred truth about breastfeeding.

About how it would test me, unravel me, and invite me into the deepest trust of my body and baby. How the world we live in would make me question everything.

Here are some “controversial” truths I wish I knew back then:

•You don’t need a feeding schedule. Your baby’s hunger isn’t predictable. They’re not a clock they’re a whole person, adjusting to life earthside. Follow them.

•A newborn’s belly is the size of a cherry. They don’t need ounces. The more they latch in the first few days of life is CRUTIAL to your supply and bond. Hence why you dont need a timers and why they are latching all of the time.

•It’s normal for a newborn to feed every 1–2 hours (or even more).

•Feed your baby, not your freezer. Pumping is not a measure of your worth or milk. Some women don’t respond to a pump at all. Your baby is the best indicator. You don’t even have to pump at all if you don’t want to.

•Cluster feeding isn’t “not enough milk.” It’s your baby regulating, growing, and asking for comfort it doesn’t mean you’re lacking. Your baby is adjusting.

•The pressure to formula feed often comes from fear not failure. The formula push, the bottles in hospital “just in case,” the whispers from relatives… it all chips away at your confidence.

•It’s okay that your baby needs you. Or only wants you. That’s not co-dependence. It’s normal.
You basically are natures pacifier.

I wish I had more support.
I wish I had someone to tell me I wasn’t broken.
I wish I had someone to say “You’re doing it right.”

No one told me this the first time…
Not the truth about how intense, intuitive, and sacred breastfeeding really is.
So I’m telling you.

This is for the mamas who feel like they’re doing it wrong because they’re doing it differently.
For the ones who are told to space out feeds, stretch sleep, give bottles “just in case.”

I see you.
I’ve been you.

Trust your baby.
Trust your body.
You’ve got this.

Fun Fact 😁

🚨𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣! 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀?🚨

If you’re using a silicone pump or collection cup, you might be 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀!

Here’s the rule: 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗧!

✅ First, offer one breast
✅ Then, offer the other
✅ ONLY THEN use the silicone pump on the first side to collect extra milk

This ensures baby gets full access to BOTH breasts before you start collecting. If you’re just catching leaks, that’s fine—but make sure there’s 𝙉𝙊 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 engaged.

💡𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?
⚠️ A silicone pump isn’t strong enough to be a manual pump, but it can still affect supply—sometimes contributing to oversupply issues!
⚠️ For some parents, it pulls in too much breast tissue, causing pain or adding to existing trauma.
Generally it is recommended to ditch the silicone pump and just rely on hand expression or a manual pump with properly sized flanges instead!

If you’re using one, use it wisely. And always remember: Save it for the THIRD BREAST!

👇 Have you used a silicone pump? Let’s talk in the comments!

Feed the baby, not the freezer.

So many women, including myself at one point, feel like they HAVE to have a freezer supply of breastmilk.

I obsessed over it, and when I didn’t have an extra abundance to put in the freezer, my stress levels skyrocketed.

Social media can sometimes put tremendous pressure on mamas to build a freezer stash, when you don’t needed one unless you want one.

Being a “just enougher” is just as amazing and such be prized as such. You’re providing exactly what your baby needs.

If you produce just enough, great.
If you produce an extra ounce, great.
If you produce an extra 10 ounces great.
Even if you don’t produce enough, you’re doing great.

The switch recently flipped in my brain when I opened my deep freezer full to the brim of frozen milk, that I don’t need all of this, but some mama does. Right then I started reaching out to donate milk to some mamas who need it and I’m so glad I did ❤️

The time has come! Breaking this out of the *dusty box because it’s time to go back to work.
I thought my labor & delivery chapter was closed but life has a funny way of doing the unexpected!
If you know the feeling of leaving your sweet little one you know the pain that comes with being a working mom, but I’m also so passionate about being able to be apart of the birth & postpartum experiences of others!

🌟 Did you know it is NOT recommended to start pumping before your baby is six weeks of age? (In most cases)
🌟 Did you know it is also not recommended to wait until 367 days of life to introduce a bottle 😅 (just jokes)
🌟Medela vs Spectra.. anyone want to share their experience if they’ve used one?
