Lots of outreach and questions from the community recently and I would like to address some here!
Question: Does EMS no longer service Washtucna?
Answer: EMS services Washtucna with 24/7 ambulance coverage. Washtucna remains part of our ASA (ambulance service area) with the state of Washington and is part of our response zone and emergency management plan. We have 1 full time BLS ambulance and 1 full time ALS ambulance on 24/7 to service ALL of our response area. In addition to this we have a solo response ALS equipped ambulance in the south end of the county that is staffed 50% or more of the time for faster response times. Our two main out ambulances, while primarily staffed in Ritzville, spend time in Washtucna, Lind, Benge, and Ralston for cross county coverage and area familiarization.
Question: Does East Adam’s EMS only transport to East Adam’s hospital?
Answer: No. Many contributing factors go into deciding hospital destination with patient and patient family preference strongly considered. Other considerations are the stability of the patient and the patients need for specific interventions (such as a cardiac or stroke center). We can, have, and will transport to Othello, Colfax, Tri cities, Moses Lake, or Spokane based on patient need and preference.
