September is Public Health Laboratory Appreciation Month!

When we say “public health laboratory,” we’re talking about the local, state, federal, and territorial government labs dedicated to protecting everyone’s health. These labs test human, environmental, animal, and food samples to detect and monitor health threats.

Here in Riverside County, our Public Health Laboratory supports local clinics by testing for infectious diseases and running surveillance programs for respiratory viruses. Through this work, we help identify emerging threats, monitor trends, and prevent outbreaks—keeping our community safer and healthier.
