Helping Restore Hand and Arm Function After Spinal Cord Injury
For individuals living with a cervical spinal cord injury, improvements in hand and arm function can make a meaningful difference in daily life. Activities such as eating, dressing, writing, and using a phone all rely on upper extremity function, making recovery in these areas a top priority for many patients.
Neuro Rehab Collaborative is proud to offer ARCEX Therapy, an FDA-cleared, non-invasive spinal cord stimulation system designed to be used alongside intensive rehabilitation therapy. During treatment, gentle electrical stimulation is delivered through the skin over the spinal cord while patients perform task-specific exercises, helping activate neural pathways involved in movement.
Clinical Results
The published Up-LIFT clinical trial demonstrated encouraging outcomes for individuals with chronic cervical spinal cord injuries:
72% achieved meaningful improvements in both hand strength and functional performance.
90% improved in at least one measure of upper extremity strength or function.
87% reported an improved quality of life following treatment.
No serious device-related adverse events were reported during the study.
Perhaps most encouraging, many participants maintained functional improvements even after stimulation was no longer being delivered, suggesting lasting benefits from combining ARCEX Therapy with rehabilitation.
