REMINDER: This Saturday, June 6, at 10 AM, we will gather for Good Sam’s Memorial Service & Butterfly Release, a time to remember loved ones, honor the grief we carry, and find comfort in community.

Moments like these remind us that love does not end when someone dies. It continues in the stories we tell, the names we speak, and the lives they touched.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hospice is not about giving up. It is about surrounding patients and families with care, comfort, and support during one of life’s most tender seasons.

When families learn about hospice earlier, they have more time to ask questions, understand their options, and receive the guidance and peace of mind hospice care can provide.

If you or someone you love has questions about hospice, we’re here to help.

Visit goodsam.care/hospice to learn more.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support families, and honor those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

For many families, the journey with memory loss can bring moments of uncertainty, grief, love, patience, and profound care. At Good Sam, we understand how important it is for patients and families to feel supported, heard, and never alone as needs change over time.

This month, we recognize the individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, the caregivers who walk beside them, and the families navigating each day with compassion and strength.

If your family is facing serious illness or changing care needs, Good Sam is here to help with compassionate support through hospice, palliative care, and home health.

Good Samaritan was grateful to be part of this morning’s SML Connects Non-Profit Panel at the Moneta Library.

Stephanie Boger joined fellow nonprofit leaders for a meaningful conversation about community impact across the Smith Mountain Lake region, including the important role volunteers play in helping organizations like Good Sam serve patients, families, and neighbors with compassion and care.

At Good Sam, volunteers make a lasting difference. Whether offering companionship to patients, supporting families, helping with special projects, or simply being a comforting presence, our volunteers help carry our mission into the community in deeply meaningful ways.

Thank you to the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce for bringing local leaders together for this conversation and for creating space to highlight the power of service, connection, and community support.

Good Samaritan is honored to have received Platinum in the Best of 2026 Awards for Home Health. This recognition is especially meaningful because our Home Health program reflects a simple but powerful philosophy:

Same Mission. More Care.

As Good Sam continues to grow, our goal with home health is to provide compassionate, skilled care that helps patients recover safely, regain strength, and remain where they are most comfortable: at home.

Thank you to everyone who voted, supported us, and believed in the work our team is doing across the Roanoke community. We are grateful for the trust patients, families, providers, and community partners continue to place in Good Sam.

Most of all, thank you to our incredible home health team. Your dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellent care make this recognition possible.

We are proud to serve this community and grateful to continue offering more care to the people who call it home.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Good Samaritan, we are honored to care for many veterans and their families. Their stories, sacrifices, and courage remind us that service does not end when the uniform is put away. It lives on in families, communities, and the freedoms we share.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who are no longer with us, we hold their loved ones in our hearts, and we give thanks for the lives and legacies they leave behind.

Some moments of care stay with families long after a visit ends.

That is what the Good Sam Hero recognition is all about: honoring team members whose compassion, kindness, and dedication leave a meaningful impact on the patients and families we serve.

For April, we are proud to celebrate Callie Hale as our Good Sam Hero.

Callie, thank you for the care you provide, the comfort you bring, and the heart you share with others. We are grateful for the difference you make every day.
