Casana is reimagining everyday wellness with a smart toilet seat that seamlessly fits into daily routines, enabling effortless, consistent insight into personal health and wellbeing at home. The FDA-cleared Heart Seat® captures heart rate and blood oxygenation. The healthcare system has been searching for this actionable intelligence for decades, and it turns out, we were sitting on a great idea all along. The Heart Seat will become commercially available upon future clearance of non-invasive blood pressure. The seat currently has three key sensors:
1. ECG (Electrocardiogram) - A single-lead ECG made up of two electrodes measures the electrical activity of the heart.
2. PPG (Photoplethysmogram)v- Red and infrared LEDs are embedded into the seat and function similarly to a standard finger pulse oximeter measuring the local blood volume.
3. BCG (Ballistocardiogram) - Four sensitive weight sensors are embedded in the bumpers of the seat which measure the mechanical activity of the heart.
