It’s a delight to see how much my process has changed over the years as an astrologer. I used to be SO fixed on mastering the map itself, & in recent years I’ve loosened my grip to the point where I can drop the map altogether & just listen to the language of the planets directly.
I hold such high regard for really knowing the ins & outs of the study itself with great complexity. I wouldn’t be where I am now without decades of rigorous study. I’m not making a case for skipping the very necessary time & research required to learn a thing well. But I’m also finding such delight in knowing that at the end of the day, it is the intimacy I’ve developed with the planetary powers more directly that is actually where the insights are now coming from. I feel my ancestors so clearly in the study, “this is how we learned to See; direct relationship”.
I used to spend hours with a chart in preparation for a reading, pouring over every little aspect & detail I could spot. Fixed on the form, missing so much of the essence. Now my process looks less like a rigid study of the structure, and more like a lucid state of celestial divination. I spend a few hours with a chart days before the reading itself, and let the planets speak to me through what I see. I’ve trained my eye enough to be able to spot all the little details from the wide view, so I can rest into the waters of the Mystery. I sit back, and let the planets show me directly.
I find such ease in this, such magick. I have very little worry anymore that I “don’t know enough”, that I’ll always be missing something — which is a perfectionist trait that has plagued me since the beginning. Now I can be cradled by the ease of relationships I’ve built slowly over time with each planetary ancestor, truly listening. From there they show me everything I need to know to give a clear read.
This has also freed me from the comparison of my peers, knowing that each reader has such a unique current of divination that they’re picking up on based on their unique relationship to the planetary elders. We each hold a vital reflection of the many-faceted gem. Glory to the magick of celestial divination!💠
