What Jeb expected to learn was his regional ancestry. What he discovered was something far more important. 🧬

When Jeb signed up for no‑cost genetic screening through GenoWell, he never imagined it would reveal an increased genetic risk for cancer - especially without a family history to point to it. His results were unexpected, but they quickly led to guidance from a genetic counselor, proactive screenings, and peace of mind.

Even more impactful? Jeb’s decision to share what he learned with his family helped his brother uncover the same genetic risk - turning uncertainty into awareness for generations to come.
“Knowing turns the unknown into something less frightening,” Jeb shared. And for him, that knowledge meant taking action.

Read Jeb’s story and learn how genetic screening can help you take charge of your health.

Jeb Albro wanted to know more about his ancestral health through genetic screening. GenoWell helped him take action.

Stroke Awareness Night with the Rochester Red Wings was one to remember. ⚾

We had the privilege of watching local stroke survivor Marlene Noto throw out the first pitch at Saturday's game. Her husband, Joe, and her RRH care team were right there with her, and her strength was truly inspiring to witness.

Thank you to Marlene and the Red Wings for partnering with us to raise awareness around stroke prevention, recognition, and the importance of acting fast. And a big thank-you to our Neuro & Rehab teams for sharing life-saving education and offering blood pressure screenings to our community.

For moments like these and the resilience of survivors like Marlene, we're here for it. 🩵

After nearly 60 years of marriage, Marlene and Joe thought they had been through it all together. Then last September, a stroke changed everything.

One morning, Joe noticed Marlene having trouble getting out of bed. Her speech was slurred and she felt weak. When things got worse later that day, he called 911.

Marlene had a stroke that affected the right side of her body. Looking back, she now realizes she had warning signs for weeks, like dizziness and trouble walking, but never thought it could be a stroke.

With care from teams at Rochester General Hospital and Golisano Rehab at Unity Hospital, Marlene began inpatient and outpatient rehab with Joe by her side each day. She worked with physical, occupational, and speech therapists who supported her every step. Over time, her care team started to feel like family, helping her rebuild both her strength and confidence. 🩵 🩺

Life at home looks different now. Marlene still experiences some aphasia and has lost much of the use of her right arm. Adjusting has not been easy, but through the hard days and the better ones, Joe is right there with her.

Now, Marlene and Joe are sharing their story to remind others to listen to their bodies. If something feels off, don't wait to get help. Our stroke care team is here for you at (585) 922-2000.

A symbol of commitment, community, and care. 🔥 ❤️

Last week, Dr. LeKeyah Wilson was on hand at the Riedman Health Center to receive the American Heart Association torch as it made its way through our community - and now it’s our turn to keep it moving!

As the proud presenting sponsor of this year’s Heart Walk, we’re excited to carry the torch across Rochester Regional Health over the next two weeks before it reaches its final stop at the Rochester Heart Walk on June 6.

We can’t wait to walk alongside our community, raise awareness, and keep the momentum going for healthier hearts. 👟

A week of gratitude, celebration, and a whole lot of heart. 🩵

Last week, during National Health Systems' Week, we took time to recognize our team members across the system: the people who answer the call, show up for each other, and make a difference in the lives of patients and families every day.

Healing happens here because of your commitment, compassion, and willingness to show up for our patients and each other.

Thank you for everything you do. We're proud to work alongside you. 🩺 🌟

There’s no such thing as a “mini” emergency when it comes to your brain. 🧠

A “mini-stroke,” also known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA), may cause symptoms that go away quickly, but it’s often a serious warning sign of a future stroke.

Why both are emergencies:
• A TIA can happen minutes or hours before a major stroke
• Up to 1 in 5 people who have a TIA will have a stroke within 90 days
• Quick treatment = better outcomes and can prevent permanent damage

⚠️ If you or someone you know experiences any symptoms of stroke, including face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, vision problems, sudden confusion, or dizziness or loss of balance with no known cause, call 911, even if the symptoms have passed.
