Kudos and and a colossal Thank You to our 'Day of Caring' crew from Constellation Brands: Joel, Kathy, Mitch, Alicia, Sydney and Michael! They knocked it out of the park by completing much needed weeding, mulching, trimming, washing windows, painting and more--it was a great day for getting things done at Harbor House and we couldn't have done it without them!!

Guess Who Walked the Walk on June 6?

Congratulations to our friend Shane Grant and her team ShaneReaction for finishing in the top 4 of the American Heart Association's Heart Walk-Run event this past Saturday June 6. Shane and her team raised over $8000--exceeding their $5000 goal and helping oh so many people live longer, healthier lives!

Sometimes it doesn't take a village. It just takes a Shane (and husband Jim) to get something that needed to be done "yesterday" DONE (well it was today, but the timing couldn't have been better!). They saw we had flowers that needed planting and they just did it!
Shane also bakes delicious cookies for our guests (we confess, the staff and other volunteers enjoy them, too), runs marathons, builds inspirational teams, raises money for great causes! And she is participating in the American Heart Association's Heart Walk next Saturday, June 6 starting at 9 am at MCC! Please join us in supporting Shane's team ShaneReaction to walk the walk and raise money to support better treatment and outcomes for heart disease patients and their families!

Get Ready for a Shane Reaction! We are so honored and excited to be working with heart transplant hero Shane Grant (formerly Operations superwoman at Dixon Schwabl & Co. ) Shane joined our volunteer team and has already made a huge impact for us (adding to her commitment to living a life with purpose!) Shane will be leading her team (ShaneReaction) in an American Heart Association Heart Walk on Saturday June 6 and we hope you will join us in supporting her for that event! Shoutout to our three wonderful volunteers who are graduating from the University of Rochester today. We're proud to have worked with Ryan, Sharmeen and Mahathir (shown below) AND we going to miss them. This photo of Mahathir is of him receiving the University's Presidential Award for Community Service. It does my heart good to know such great graduates!

Harbor House Celebrates National Nurses Week
I wondered by the week runs from Wed., May 6, to Tues., May 12 this year. They chose the dates to end on Florence Nightingale's birthday, remembering the amazing founder of modern nursing.

Once again, a huge thank you to our friends at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY Inc. for their generous donation! This time, they kindly gave us a TV which will be put to good use at our new location. Until then, it has to live with our growing pile of donations for the new house, pictured below!
