Help us congratulate Elizabeth for winning the Lowry Award!

Liz earned this award because of her personal growth and determination for independence. Once very quiet, soft-spoken, and shy, Liz has worked hard to overcome many obstacles and has grown tremendously in her confidence and self-esteem. She has stayed focused on her goals, including making positive changes in her life, becoming her own guardian, and maintaining her independence. Liz takes an active role in managing her health and works closely with staff to schedule and attend her own appointments. She has also reached exciting personal milestones, including getting married and beginning a new job that she earned completely on her own. Liz should be incredibly proud of how far she has come and all that she has accomplished.

We are proud to recognize Family Service Rochester as ABC Rochester’s Business Partner of the Year!

ABC has partnered with Family Service Rochester for many years, and we are grateful for the opportunities this partnership provides for the people we serve. Twice a week, an ABC team cleans the Family Service Rochester buildings, where their staff are always welcoming and supportive of our team. Our team values the opportunity to work, earn money and build new skills while contributing to the community.

Our partnership goes beyond our community work crews. ABC also volunteers through Family Service Rochester’s Meals on Wheels program. We currently have three groups delivering meals each week, giving our team the opportunity to connect with others, spread a little joy and make a difference in our community.

We are so grateful for Family Service Rochester and the many ways they welcome, support and include the people we serve. This partnership creates meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities while allowing our team to contribute to the well-being of others.

Thank you, Family Service Rochester, for being such an important part of our community and for helping create a place where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and connect. We are proud to celebrate you as our Business Partner of the Year!

We have been kicking off our weeks with movement, mindfulness and joy. 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

Thanks to Sarah from Joyful Expressions Yoga Studio in Caledonia for bringing All Abilities Yoga to our programming. We love starting the week with movement, deep breathing and opportunities to ground both body and mind.

Yoga helps us stay active, centered, connected and prepares us for the week ahead. We are so grateful for Sarah and this wonderful program.

We are proud to recognize Roca Climbing & Fitness as ABC Rochester's Community Partner of the Year! 🧗

ROCA's commitment to inclusion extends far beyond ABC. They have created a welcoming environment where people of all abilities can experience joy and challenge of climbing. ROCA opened their doors to ABC for a monthly accessible climbing outing for the people we serve more than three years ago. They have continued to invest in adaptative equipment, accessible spaces, staff training and opportunities that make climbing more inclusive for everyone.

But it is about so much more than reaching the top of a wall. ROCA has created a place where people can challenge themselves, try something new, socialize and celebrate every accomplishment. Whether that means reaching the top or simply getting one foot off of the ground.

We are incredibly grateful for ROCA's partnership and for the joy, confidence and pride they help bring to the people we serve. Thank you for helping make our entire community feel welcome, support and empowered.

Congratulations to Marcia for winning the Lowry Award!

Marcia earned this award because she is a wonderful example of personal growth, positivity, and growing independence. While naturally quiet, Marcia has made great strides in becoming more social by moving her workspace closer to her coworkers and building meaningful connections with them. She comes to work each day with a positive attitude, enjoys staying busy, and is always willing to try new activities while working toward her goals independently. Her playful personality and contagious laugh brighten the workplace and make her a valued member of the team.
