Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region

Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region CSP-MC is the only cancer prevention and screening program in Monroe County.

The Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region, a statewide initiative run by the NYS Department of Health, helps uninsured men and women in the Finger Lakes region receive free breast, cervical and/or colorectal cancer screenings. Founded in 1993, the Center for Community Health's Cancer Services Program of Monroe County (CSP-MC), formerly known as the Women's Health Partnership, is part

of a larger statewide initiative run by the NYS Department of Health’s Cancer Services Program. It promotes age-appropriate breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening for uninsured and under-insured men and women. The CSP-MC does not perform the screenings but pays for clinical breast exams and mammograms, pelvic exams and pap tests, and FIT kits and/or colonoscopies at more than 100 clinics and providers across the county. The program also pays for follow-up diagnostic exams if there is an abnormal finding during a screening. In the unfortunate instance that cancer is found, the program will enroll eligible patients into the Medicaid Cancer Treatment Program (MCTP) for full coverage of treatment services. The Cancer Services Program is affiliated with the Center for Community Health, University of Rochester Medical Center. Funded by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Cancer Prevention & Control.

It's been a busy end of the summer here in Rochester, NY with our colleagues at the Healthy Living & Cancer Services Program Genesee, Orleans, Niagara, Wyoming and Wilmot Cancer Institute.
Just this past weekend, we joined together for ROC Against Cancer, where we helped people without health insurance get connected to FREE cancer screening services and diagnostic care.

HUGE thanks to our friends and colleagues across NYS who make it possible to prevent certain cancers, and who help to find other cancers early when treatment may be more effective.

Uninsured? Enroll in free cancer screening services here - https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/community-health/community-programs/cancer-services-program/self-referral-form or by calling us at 585-224-3070.

Join us August 29 for ROC Against Cancer! 💙

🗣️ We're getting ready for ROC Against Cancer on August 29!

Our Community Outreach and Engagement team stopped by MLK Park downtown earlier this week to scope out the space. We learned a few perks you should know about:

💦 The park has a splash pad and a beautiful, brand-new playground for the kids to enjoy.
🎗️ The giant inflatable colon AND giant inflatable lungs will be there to help everyone learn about lung and colon cancers.
🎫 12+ community organizations will be present! Stop by tables to get your passport stamped and earn a half-off coupon for the The Strong Museum.

It's going to be a blast. 🎇 We hope you will join us, and bring your family and friends!

We had a great time at Survivor's Night with the Rochester Red Wings and Wilmot Cancer Institute on July 31. Before the game, our staff members talked with attendees about free cancer screening resources for people without health insurance. Best of all, our staff was able to enjoy a ball game where the home team won 10 to 1 - Go Wings!

Remember that FREE cancer screening services are available in your community. If you are in need of free screening services, you can call us at 585-224-3070 to enroll, or sign up here using our online self-enrollment form - https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/community-health/community-programs/cancer-services-program/self-referral-form

Have you heard of self-collection HPV tests? These tests are a way to increase options for patients who may be overdue for their cervical cancer screening.

Isabelle Ceddia, community outreach coordinator for our program, shares more about the new opportunity for cancer prevention in this Finger Lakes Times letter to the editor.

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Amanda and her colleagues at Runnings Stores for their generous donation of over $1,300 to help fund cancer screenings and diagnostic care for local community members without health insurance.

Without their help, we would not be able to pay for essential healthcare services for people symptomatic for breast and colorectal cancer who are under the age of screening guidelines.

Remember that EARLY DETECTION saves lives!

Thank you, Runnings!
