Happy Juneteenth from Pausitive Women’s Care ❤️🖤💚

Today we honor Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, resilience, progress, and the ongoing pursuit of health equity for all.

At Pausitive Women’s Care, we recognize that every woman deserves to be heard, respected, and empowered throughout every stage of life, including perimenopause and menopause. We remain committed to creating a space where women feel seen, supported, and educated about their health.

As we celebrate freedom today, we also reflect on the importance of ensuring access to quality healthcare, education, and advocacy for all women.

✨ Here’s to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and building a healthier future together.

In 1999, nearly 1 in 4 postmenopausal women were using hormone replacement therapy.

By 2023, that number had dropped to only a small fraction of women.

And I need us to pause there.‼️

Because this isn’t just a statistic — it represents millions of women who were left to suffer through hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood changes, vaginal dryness, painful s*x, recurrent UTIs, bone loss, and changes in quality of life without being fully educated on their options.

Yes, hormone therapy is not for everyone.

But the pendulum swung so far after fear-based headlines that many women were never given a balanced conversation about risks, benefits, timing, route, dose, and individualized care.

Women deserve better than “just deal with it.”

They deserve evidence-based conversations.
They deserve updated information.
They deserve clinicians who understand menopause.

Hormone therapy isn’t about staying young.

It’s about helping women feel well, protect their health, and make informed decisions about their bodies.

The conversation is changing — and it’s long overdue.

Be That Girl. ✨

One of the most powerful moments in my career isn’t when a patient thanks me to my face.

It’s when I’m not in the room.

It’s hearing that a woman recommended me to her sister, her best friend, her coworker, or her neighbor because she finally felt heard.

It’s learning that my name came up in a conversation among women sharing their struggles with menopause, hormones, weight, sleep, libido, or simply feeling like themselves again.

Not because of a fancy title.
Not because of a social media post.
But because I made an impact.

The real goal isn’t to be the loudest voice in the room.
It’s to be the one people talk about when you’re not there.

Be the woman who keeps her word.
Be the woman who shows up.
Be the woman who makes people feel seen, valued, and understood.
Be the woman whose character speaks before she enters the room.

That’s the kind of reputation no marketing strategy can buy.

Be that girl. The one who leaves such a positive impact that your name is spoken with respect, gratitude, and trust long after you’ve left the room. ❤️

Perimenopause doesn’t just affect your periods, mood, or sleep—it can show up on your skin too.

If you’ve suddenly noticed more dryness, itching, sensitivity, wrinkles, crepey skin, adult acne, or even new rashes that seem to appear before your period, you’re not imagining it.

As estrogen and progesterone fluctuate during perimenopause, your skin responds. Lower estrogen levels can reduce collagen production, decrease skin hydration, and impair the skin’s protective barrier. At the same time, hormonal shifts can trigger inflammation, worsening conditions like eczema, rosacea, acne, and cyclical rashes.

One clue your hormones may be involved? Symptoms that consistently worsen in the days leading up to your menstrual cycle.

Many women spend months changing skincare products when the root cause may be happening beneath the surface.

Healthy skin starts from the inside out:
✨ Prioritize protein
✨ Lift weights
✨ Stay hydrated
✨ Manage stress
✨ Wear daily SPF
✨ Optimize sleep
✨ Address hormonal changes when appropriate

Your skin is one of many organs responding to the hormonal roller coaster of midlife.

So if your skin suddenly seems unfamiliar, don’t dismiss it as “just getting older.”

Ask yourself:
“What patterns am I noticing, and could my hormones be part of the story?”

Have you noticed changes in your skin—or even recurring rashes before your cycle—as you’ve entered perimenopause? Let me know below. 👇

Today I’m traveling to celebrate the life of a woman who should still be here.

My mom’s best friend was only 56 years old. She was active, vibrant, and full of life.

One day she didn’t feel well.

Not dramatic chest pain. Not collapsing to the ground. Just “not feeling well.”

She dismissed the symptoms.

And now we’re gathering for her celebration of life because what she was feeling was a heart attack.

Heart disease remains the #1 killer of women, yet so many women don’t know the warning signs or don’t believe it could happen to them.

As I sit with the sadness of losing someone so loved, the woman who named me, the woman who’s crafty hands always made the best costumes, I’m reminded why prevention matters.

So today, in her honor…

Take the walk.

Lift the weights.

Eat the nutritious meal.

Schedule the appointment.

Know your numbers.

Get the sleep.

Manage the stress.

Don’t ignore symptoms that feel different or concerning.

Because the greatest way we can honor those we’ve lost is to take better care of ourselves while we’re still here.

One small choice today could change the course of your future.

For her. ❤️

Ever wonder why you feel more irritable, anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally reactive at certain times of the month?

Progesterone may be part of the answer.

During the luteal phase (the two weeks after ovulation), progesterone rises and acts as a natural calming hormone, supporting mood, sleep, and resilience to stress. As progesterone levels begin to fall before your period, many women notice increased irritability, anxiety, mood swings, and a shorter fuse.

In perimenopause, progesterone production becomes less predictable because ovulation becomes less consistent. Instead of a smooth rise and fall, progesterone may fluctuate dramatically or be absent altogether. The result? Feeling less able to adapt to everyday stressors, more emotionally sensitive, more anxious, and wondering why things that never bothered you before suddenly feel overwhelming.

This isn’t a character flaw. It isn’t a lack of willpower. It’s often biology.

Understanding what’s happening hormonally can be the first step toward finding solutions and feeling more like yourself again.

Have you noticed changes in your patience, anxiety, or ability to handle stress during perimenopause?

Sounds illegal, but it’s not…

Women come to my office exhausted, gaining weight, not sleeping, losing muscle, struggling with brain fog, low libido, and being told, “That’s just part of getting older.” 🫥

Then we talk hormones, nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, bone health, heart health, and what evidence-based care actually looks like. 🤯

A few months later, they’re stronger, sleeping better, thinking clearer, feeling more confident, and finally recognizing themselves again. 😍

Apparently helping women feel this good in midlife seems suspicious. 😉

What symptom were you told was “normal” that turned out to be treatable?

Menopause is not a disease. It’s not a diagnosis. It’s not something that suddenly “happens” to you.

Menopause is simply a point in time—a marker that tells us the ovaries have transitioned out of their reproductive years.

The hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, sleep struggles, mood changes, joint pain, vaginal dryness, low libido, and weight changes… Those are symptoms that can occur because of the hormonal changes surrounding menopause.

Too many women are told to “just deal with it” because menopause is natural. Aging is natural too, but that doesn’t mean we ignore symptoms that affect quality of life.

You deserve education. You deserve options. And you deserve to feel like yourself again.

What symptom surprised you the most during perimenopause or menopause? ❓❓
