Yesterday, Music Therapists Michael Kelliher and Dr. John Carpente began an additional phase of testing for the IMCAP-ND as part of our ongoing EEG research study.

Using pre and post treatment scoring with autistic children, we are exploring relationships among IMCAP-ND outcomes, engagement measures, and EEG data. It is encouraging to continue examining the reliability and validity of the assessment while investigating how neuroscience and music centered, relationship-based music therapy practice may inform one another.

Looking forward to seeing what emerges from the data.

Dr. John Carpente had the opportunity to present at Molloy University’s education conference alongside his colleague Dr. Audra Cerruto.

Follow the Lead, Feel the Connection: Play Based Social Emotional Learning Through DIRFloortime

Their presentation focused on embedding DIRFloortime principles within the Creative Curriculum to support preschool teachers in their everyday classroom practice. Rather than introducing an additional model, the approach emphasizes integrating relationship based, developmentally informed strategies into existing curricular structures.

Dr. Carpente and Dr. Cerruto also shared their research from their collaborative work at the Lexington School for the Deaf, highlighting how this integrated model supports engagement, regulation, and meaningful communication for children with diverse developmental profiles.

This work reflects an ongoing commitment to bridging clinical practice, research, and education in ways that are both practical and impactful.
