When patients are preparing for surgery, it's natural to focus on the diagnosis or procedure itself. But another important question is often overlooked: Who is performing the surgery?

The surgeon's training, experience, and technique can influence everything from complication rates and recovery time to long-term outcomes.

At Center for Innovative GYN Care (CIGC), our fellowship-trained surgeons focus exclusively on advanced gynecologic surgery, treating conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, pelvic adhesions, and abnormal bleeding using minimally invasive approaches whenever possible.

This Minimally Invasive GYN Surgery Awareness Month, we're encouraging patients to learn more about their options, ask questions, and understand the role specialized surgical care can play in their treatment journey.

When patients are researching surgery, one of the first questions they often ask is: "Will my surgery be robotic?"

But there is another question that may be even more important: "Who is performing the surgery?"

Technology can be helpful, but it does not replace surgical expertise. A robot cannot identify disease, navigate complex anatomy, or determine the safest surgical approach. Those decisions are made by the surgeon.

At Center for Innovative GYN Care (CIGC), our physicians are fellowship-trained advanced laparoscopic surgeons who focus exclusively on gynecologic surgery. Through specialized training, advanced techniques, and extensive surgical experience, they are able to treat complex conditions while prioritizing patient safety and recovery.

June is Minimally Invasive GYN Surgery Awareness Month. Patients deserve to understand all of their options, including who performs their surgery. Learn more here: https://innovativegyn.com/our-doctors/

Should fibroids be removed before pregnancy? The answer depends on the size, location, and how they may affect fertility.

Some fibroids can be safely monitored, especially if they are small and do not impact the uterine cavity. Others may need to be removed before trying to conceive because they can contribute to infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy complications, and preterm labor.

Every patient is different, which is why an individualized evaluation is so important. The right treatment plan starts with understanding how fibroids may affect your reproductive goals 💛

Just because an ovarian cyst or dermoid is not causing symptoms does not mean it should be ignored.

Dermoid cysts can continue growing over time and may increase the risk of ovarian torsion, which happens when the o***y twists on itself. This is a painful surgical emergency that can threaten ovarian function and fertility.

For patients trying to conceive, treating a cyst before pregnancy may help avoid complications or the need for surgery during pregnancy. Even patients without symptoms should discuss monitoring and treatment options with a gynecologic surgical specialist.

Women’s Health Month is a reminder that early evaluation and proactive care can help prevent more serious complications later. 💛

If up to 80% of Black women develop fibroids, why are so many cases diagnosed only after symptoms become severe?

Fibroids can cause heavy bleeding, anemia, pelvic pain, pressure, bloating, and infertility. Yet many patients are not evaluated until fibroids have grown significantly larger and more complex to treat.

A simple pelvic ultrasound can help identify fibroids earlier, before they begin impacting quality of life and reproductive health. Early diagnosis creates more options for treatment and better long-term outcomes.

Women’s Health Month is a reminder that proactive gynecologic care and early screening matter. 💛

May is Women’s Health Month, and many gynecologic conditions become more disruptive gradually over time while symptoms are minimized, normalized, or misunderstood.

What may begin as painful periods, bloating, pelvic discomfort, or heavy bleeding can eventually start affecting daily life, fertility, energy levels, relationships, and overall health.

Conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, chronic pelvic pain, and abnormal bleeding are still commonly delayed in diagnosis, leaving many patients searching for answers for years.

At Center for Innovative GYN Care (CIGC), we specialize in advanced minimally invasive treatment for complex gynecologic conditions. Through Visionary ASC and the NGynS network, patients can connect with fellowship-trained specialists focused on comprehensive evaluation, specialized treatment, and improved long-term outcomes. 🩺✨

Women’s Health Month is a reminder: symptoms that continue progressing deserve proper evaluation and specialized care.
