Recalibrating ... Slowly.

Ten years of being a nurse midwife has been so rewarding and filled with purpose. I've attended over 500 births as the primary midwife, and so many more as the assist or nurse. That is a lot of women!! It's also a lot of daddies and big brothers and little sisters and swaddles and breastfeeding guidance and sleepless nights and texting about appointments and tears surrounding miscarriages and creative problem solving and prescriptions sent and birth tubs filled and patience and baby footprints and choices presented and options explained and Google reviews and supplies ordered and payments tracked and IVs started and networking and postpartum beds made and SOS calls and emergencies managed and scrubs washed and hips pressed and students mentored and miles driven and birth affirmations and baby heart beats seen and heard...whew! It's been a lot.

And yes there's been a mistake here and there. I've learned. I've grown. And I'll never stop!

But the next ten years...these people God picked out for me to love daily and forever... I'll be intentionally pouring into the privilege of being a wife & momma.

Because while we've made it through learning to talk and walk and introducing solids and potty training and learning to swim and pump themselves on a swing...these precious people still need dinner cooked and paint cleaned up and reading help and taken to the orthodontist and taught about God's grace and play dates arranged and clothes swapped out seasonally and birthday parties planned and daily nurturing and nails clipped and ribs tickled and conflicts mediated and screentime monitored and reminders to get all the sugar bugs off their teeth and tucked into bed, only to sneak away after their breathing slows.

They need examples of healthy love and healthy boundaries and a mom who abides with Jesus.

So folks, that's the plan! Still midwifing, but with a few less clients, to create space for prioritizing my family, Blake and Caden and Cohen and Eliza... and maybe even myself a little! 🙃

I won't be posting as much this year just due to shifting priorities but I had to come on here and just say - where else can you hold week old kittens while getting an IUD put in!? 🐱😍

Sound bath, anyone?

Defined as a meditative experience where you're immersed in deep, vibrational sounds from instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and chimes to promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, improve mood, and support well-being, essentially "bathing" your body and mind in soothing frequencies. Participants lie or sit comfortably (or...labor their baby down), listening as practitioners create layers of sound, leading to a state of inner calm, much like deep meditation. 💫

Isn't it amazing that testing has advanced so far to allow us to discover a baby's gender as early as 6 weeks? I charge $100 and offer this to anyone - not just Rockwall Birth clients. 🙂
