Dear Citizens of Rolla, Missouri,

The mission of the Rolla Regional Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 105 is to advocate for the safety of our community and the public safety professionals who serve it. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our opinion on the upcoming Proposition S and The Centre.

Proposition S, and the financial support that it would provide The Centre, reaches far beyond a recreational facility. The Centre currently relies on revenue sourced from Rolla's General Fund for its daily operations. The General Fund is also responsible for supporting essential public safety services, including law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency responses.

Without a dedicated funding source, The Centre will continue to rely on revenue from the General Fund year after year. As operational costs, maintenance needs, and future improvements continue to grow, those demands will continue competing with other essential city services for the same limited resources.

The Fraternal Order of Police believes that public safety should not be placed in a position where it must continually compete with the operational needs of another city facility. Proposition S offers a long-term funding solution for The Centre by establishing a dedicated revenue source for its operation, maintenance, and future improvements. By creating this funding mechanism, Proposition S would reduce ongoing pressure on the General Fund and allow City leaders to make greater investments in police, fire, and other core public safety services.

For the Lodge, this issue is not about criticizing decisions made in the past that are no longer within our control. This decision is about our community investing in an important community asset and establishing a sustainable plan for the future. Like any aging facility, it requires a sustainable plan for the future. Proposition S is an opportunity to address that reality responsibly while helping protect the financial resources that support the essential public safety services our citizens rely on every day.

For the members of the Rolla Regional Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 105, our support of Proposition S is rooted in one principle: ensuring that public safety remains a priority. By providing The Centre with a dedicated funding source, we can reduce the continued strain on the General Fund and better position our community to meet both its recreational and public safety
needs for years to come.

Endorsement of Sue Brown for Rolla City Council, Ward 4

The Rolla Regional Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 105, is proud to endorse Sue Brown for Rolla City Council, Ward 4.

Sue Brown is a proven public servant with deep roots in our community. She has lived in Rolla since 1992 and has called Ward 4 home for more than 20 years. Her long record of service to the people of Phelps County and the State of Missouri speaks for itself. Over a 33-year career in Missouri’s 25th Judicial Circuit, including 18 years as Phelps County Circuit Clerk, Sue earned a reputation for professionalism, steadiness, integrity, and dedication to public service.

Sue also brings valuable experience in budgeting, working with other public officials, and helping citizens navigate government. Just as important, she has remained involved in the community through service organizations and volunteer work, including CASA, the Chamber of Commerce, Rolla Lioness Club, and Rolla Breakfast Kiwanis.

We believe Sue Brown will bring common sense, accountability, and a servant’s heart to the Rolla City Council. Her commitment to responsible fiscal management, her willingness to listen to residents, and her public support for Rolla Police and Fire & Rescue make her the kind of leader Ward 4 needs.

The Rolla Regional Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 105 is proud to officially announce our endorsement of Nathan Chirban for Rolla City Council – Ward 2.

Nathan Chirban is a lifelong member of the Rolla community, a third-generation resident, and a small business owner. He has served on the Rolla City Council since first being elected in 2022 and currently represents Ward 2. Nathan also dedicates his time to the future of Rolla while serving on the Rolla Planning and Zoning Board.

In addition to his role on the council, Nathan is actively involved in the community as a husband, father, business owner, and associate pastor. His background reflects a strong commitment to service, leadership, and the long-term success of Rolla.

During our recent meeting with Nathan, members of Lodge 105 were impressed by his common-sense approach to leadership, his willingness to listen, and his dedication to public safety and the well-being of our community.

Nathan has demonstrated a continued commitment to responsible decision-making and to ensuring Rolla remains a safe and thriving place to live, work, and raise a family.
