🚨 Is MiraLAX becoming the answer to every constipated child?
MiraLAX can absolutely have a place in treating childhood constipation—especially when a child is impacted or caught in a painful withholding cycle.
But when a child needs it day after day, month after month, we should also be asking:
WHY is this child constipated in the first place?
Sometimes the answer may be sitting right on the dinner plate.
🥤 Not enough water
🥦 Too little fiber and whole foods
🍟 Too many ultra-processed foods
🥑 Inadequate healthy fats
🥛 Food intolerances or dietary triggers
💊 Medications or supplements contributing to constipation
🦋 Thyroid dysfunction
🌾 Celiac disease
🚽 Stool withholding or poor toileting habits
MiraLAX helps pull water into the stool so it’s easier to pass. It doesn’t correct the underlying reason the constipation developed.
And persistent GI symptoms shouldn’t simply be dismissed as “they’ve always been constipated.” Chronic constipation can occasionally be a clue that further evaluation is needed.
There is also growing interest in the relationship between diet, the gut microbiome, intestinal barrier function, inflammation and immune-mediated diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. That does not mean constipation or MiraLAX causes these diseases—but it does mean persistent gastrointestinal problems deserve attention rather than indefinite symptom management alone.
At Mindset & Body Reset, we want to ask a different question:
Not just, “What can we give them so they’ll poop?”
But, “Why aren’t they pooping normally?”
Sometimes changing what’s going IN can make a remarkable difference in what comes OUT. 😉
Nutrition matters. Gut health matters. And our kids deserve more than a lifetime of simply managing symptoms.
📲 If your child struggles with chronic constipation, let’s look at the whole picture—including nutrition, lifestyle and potential underlying contributors.
