The Rosebud Sioux Tribe is granting administrative leave today from 10:30 AM to 5 PM. This is due to a region wide electrical outage.

08/05/2026

The power is out from Rosebud, Mission, White River, Wood, Mosher and etc.
The Tribe is still at work but we don't know how long the power will be out.

Cherry Todd reached out and said "We are aware of the wide spread outage. We have our lineman working with WAPA on restoring the power . I will post as soon as I know more . Please be patient with everything. Lots of phone calls and work is being done as fast and safely as things can go."

🌞 RST WIC | Stay Safe During the Summer Heat 🌞

The summer heat is here, and it's important to take extra care of yourself and your family.

Did you know? Extreme heat is one of the deadliest weather-related hazards in the United States. When temperatures climb, your body has to work much harder to keep itself cool. Without enough water and rest, heat can lead to serious illnesses like heat exhaustion, heat stroke, dehydration, and even damage to your heart and kidneys.

⚠️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion:

Headache
Dizziness
Feeling weak or unusually tired
Feeling sick or generally unwell

💧 Protect yourself and your loved ones:

Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
If you're outside or active, take water breaks every 15–20 minutes.
Wear lightweight clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
If you begin feeling overheated, cool your skin with water, rest in an air-conditioned or cool place, and don't ignore the warning signs.

👶 Parents: Babies, young children, pregnant women, older adults, and those with certain health conditions are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness. Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.

🌡️ Stay informed by keeping an eye on local heat advisories and weather updates.

The RST WIC Program hopes everyone has a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer. Remember to check on your elders, neighbors, and loved ones during periods of extreme heat. A simple phone call or visit can make all the difference.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of one another. 💙
