Well, I’ve been AWOL for a while. That’s because back in February, I had the misfortune of fracturing my right knee. This resulted in me wearing a knee immobilizer for two months. Thankfully, as of my birthday on Wednesday, I am done with the brace! Yesterday morning, I felt the urge to play again like a craving for something I hadn’t had in a long time. So, I got things set up and got around to playing. This morning makes two days in a row I have spent time playing. Lpord how I missed it! But, now I’m baack!

Ladies and gentlemen, the bass player has re-entered the building. This is the year I’m finally getting proactive, with emphasis on the active.

Well, a couple months back, I accidentally broke the headphone amplifier I use to play/practice. Because of that, I gave into a bad mix of disappointment and laziness. Well, today that changes, as i have replaced the broken headphone amp and it is due to arrive in todays mail. So, some time later today I’ll be back at the thumping and bumping…even if it’s just in my head, so to speak. So, the journy continues!

Okay, I know this will probably get a chuckle or two, but I actually started figuring out my own bassline for a song by The Monkees. I can’t help it! I liked them since I was two years old! Anyway, for those who know their stuff, the song I’m working on is “(I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone.” Mind you, I didn’t plan this. It just sort of happened organically. I’m having fun with it, though and it feels awesome to be creating original bass lines for already existing songs!
