Inroads To Opportunities Empowering people with disabilities in their pursuit of employment, independence and life skills. We have grown from serving 4 individuals to over 500 annually.

Occupational Center of Union County (OCUC) was founded in March of 1959 as a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 agency serving the greater Union County area. We are committed to providing vocational preparation, transition from school to work, job placement and mental health services to individuals with all types of disabilities from ages 16 on up. We have established relationships with 100's of local busin

esses, schools, hospitals, community agencies, and families. Starting in 2015, we will be doing business as Inroads to Opportunities. Inroads is certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We are an approved provider of the NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the NJ Division of Development Disabilities and the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We are licensed by the state of New Jersey to provide mental health partial care services under the Division of Mental Health and Addictions Services. We are an approved Medicaid provider and an approved Employment Network under the Ticket to Work Social Security initiative.

For many young adults with disabilities, the next step isn't always clear. That's where TransitionPLUS comes in.

Designed for adults ages 21-25, TransitionPLUS helps participants develop the vocational, social, and independent living skills needed to prepare for employment and greater independence.

From workplace readiness and community-based instruction to life skills development and confidence building, participants gain real-world experience that helps prepare them for the future.

Because the journey doesn't end after graduation it evolves.

Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Transition Program

Summer doesn't have to mean losing momentum.

Inroads to Opportunities' Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Transition Program helps students with IEPs and 504 Plans continue building important life, social, and workplace skills while having fun along the way.

Participants will:
• Maintain progress made during the school year
• Build confidence and independence
• Make new friends and strengthen social skills
• Enjoy exciting field trips and community outings
• Create lasting summer memories

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, remember this:

Rest is productive.

Taking time to recharge physically, emotionally, and mentally is not falling behind. Whether it’s getting outside for fresh air, putting down your phone for an hour, listening to music, journaling, or simply giving yourself permission to slow down, small moments of rest can have a big impact on overall wellness.

At Inroads to Opportunities, we believe mental wellness deserves attention not just in May, but every day of the year.

Music has a powerful way of bringing people together, building confidence, and creating joy.

Our Inroads Spring Choir Concert was filled with smiles, energy, and unforgettable performances of classics like “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Stand By Me,” and “Three Little Birds.”

We would like to extend a special thank you to our incredible music therapists for helping our program participants learn, practice, and confidently perform these songs. Your patience, encouragement, and passion continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the individuals we serve.
