Let’s talk anatomy 🫀 🧍♀️🧍
When you go into a piercing studio , you’ll hear the term “anatomy dependent” piercings. Well, at least in a good shop you will 🤷🏻♀️
This terminology does not mean that you have to be a size 2 to get a navel piercing, or 16 to get a nose piercing, or any other reason you think you might not be eligible for a piercing.
It is simple- biology, geometry, and skill/comfort level of your piercer
A good piercer isn’t just going to take your money, to take your money.
We care about our clients and their healing process, and if we think that the correct angle to accomplish a successful piercing is unattainable, we’re going to say it.
It’s not to be mean or callous, but in fact, quite the opposite.
We care about you and your body’s ability to heal with minimal obstacles.
Trust me, we want you walking around with a beautifully healed piece of bling, that YOU are proud of, and WE are proud of.
And most likely, if we don’t think we can perform the exact piercing you came in for, we are going to suggest alternatives that will work WITH your anatomy, not against it.
That brings me to the picture above ⬆️
This amazing client comes in wanting a traditional navel piercing. After explaining how the jewelry would move constantly and inhibit healing, they let me provide an alternative: the floating navel.
We opted for a 12g curve with a ball for comfort, and this is what it looks like 6 months later 😊
My client is happy! I am happy!
And now you know that there are always options that might make more sense for your anatomy or lifestyle, and it’s important you go to a piercer you trust, one that will tell you what you hate hearing….
“no.”

“What about this instead?”
