Public health officials are sharing information after a measles exposure involving a traveler who was infectious while passing through Asheville.

Anyone who was at the specified hotel on Aug 26 should watch for symptoms through Sept 16 and contact their local health department if they feel ill. Measles spreads easily and can linger in the air for hours, so early awareness is important. Vaccination remains the best protection, and individuals who are unsure of their immunity can speak with their provider or use the state’s measles immunity checker tool.
