Between work, family, responsibilities, and the constant demands of everyday life, it’s easy to forget to make space for ourselves.

This Wednesday evening, I’m offering an opportunity to slow down, unplug, and enjoy an hour of deep relaxation through sound.

During this sound bath, you’ll get comfortable, close your eyes, and allow the soothing vibrations of singing bowls and other instruments to wash over you. No experience necessary. Just come as you are.

Freshly restocked at the New Salem General Store !

I stopped in today to drop off some goodies and set up my new essential oil diffuser display!

Harvest Moon was such a hit that I decided it was time to bring in a whole variety of scents! From earthy patchouli and woodsy balsam fir to fresh lemongrass, lavender, and everything in between, there’s a little something for everyone.

I even added scent testers so you can smell the different blends before choosing your favorite!

These little diffusers are perfect for hanging in your car or any small space that could use a little botanical goodness.

I had an herbal consultation today with someone who has been using my Aches & Pains Salve, and she told me something that absolutely made my day. 😍

She said it has given her more relief than any of the prescription topical creams and pain patches she’s tried.

That’s a pretty incredible thing to hear about something I make right here on the homestead.

I’ve been making this salve for years with herbs traditionally used to support sore, achy muscles and joints, inflammation, and nerve discomfort — including neuropathy. St. John’s Wort is one of my favorite herbs to include when nerve pain is part of the picture.

It has become one of those products that people come back for again and again, and hearing feedback like this is exactly why I keep doing what I do. 🌿

Something new is coming to Mother Hen’s in 2027 — The Herbal Year. 🌿

I’ve been wanting to create something that brings together two of my favorite parts of what I do here: making herbal products and teaching people how to actually use herbs in their everyday lives.

So I created The Herbal Year: A Seasonal Herbal Share.

Five times throughout 2027, members will receive a seasonal box filled with a changing assortment of handcrafted herbal goods—teas, tinctures, syrups, oxymels, body care, aromatics, seasonal remedies, and whatever else I’m inspired to create from the apothecary.

But I didn’t want this to just be another subscription box.

Each share will also include recipes and seasonal herbal education to help you learn more about the plants you’re receiving and simple ways to incorporate herbs into everyday life. Throughout the year there may also be member exclusives, limited-run creations, and a few botanical surprises tucked in along the way.

And no two Herbal Years will be exactly the same. What I create will change with the seasons, what’s growing and being harvested, and what I’m inspired to make and share.

Apparently you all really like the Harvest Moon diffusers. 😂

I dropped off another restock at New Salem General Store today and discovered that the Harvest Moon essential oil diffusers were pretty much cleaned out.

Harvest Moon has actually been the only diffuser scent I’ve had stocked there so far, but apparently that needs to change! When I bring up my next delivery, I’ll be adding a few more diffuser scents for you to choose from too.

It also gave me the kick in the ass I apparently needed to finally sit down and get ALL of my diffuser blends added to the website.

So after spending a good chunk of today working behind the scenes, you can now actually shop the full collection online instead of me having approximately one scent listed and pretending the others don’t exist. 😅

I also finally added the essential oil rollers and a scent spray that somehow never made it onto the website either. Slowly but surely, I’m catching up.

Harvest Moon is one of my favorite fall blends — warm orange with cedarwood and cinnamon. Cozy, woodsy, a little spicy, and very much this time of year.

So if you’ve been smelling the diffusers at markets and wishing you could order your favorite online, you finally can. And if you shop at New Salem General Store, keep an eye out for some new scents with the next restock. 🌿

Today’s botanical pumpkin class was so much fun. I love seeing how everyone makes their pumpkin their own — no two ever come out the same. Such a cozy, creative way to spend an afternoon.

Come take a very real, very unglamorous end-of-season garden tour with me 😂🌿

Some things did great this year, some things struggled, and some things I pretty much gave up on entirely.

My tomatoes were especially rough. The blight was terrible this year, and I think I really need to move them down to the lower field next season and give this area a break with some better crop rotation.

But there’s still a surprising amount happening out there — herbs to harvest, flowers still blooming, seeds to save, veggies I should probably do something with 😅, and plenty to get tucked away before the first hard frost finally arrives.

So here it is exactly as it looks right now. No perfectly manicured garden, no Pinterest version — just the real end-of-season mess.

Anyone else’s garden looking a little feral right now?

I’ll be at the Orange Farmers Market TODAY from 3–6pm at Butterfield Park. I have the remaining Thursday markets on my calendar, but those will be a little hit-or-miss for me this month depending on childcare, so keep an eye on my stories/posts each week to see if I’ll be there.

I’ll also be out and about at Hollis Hills Farm’s Fall Festival and Scarecrow in the Park, plus there are lots of opportunities to come learn, create, gather and slow down here at Mother Hen’s:
