☀️ A little taste of what’s coming at the Midsummer Herbal Retreat…

One of my favorite summer rituals is making herbal sun tea.

This Golden Hour Sun Tea combines lemon balm, lemongrass, rose, and orange peel into a refreshing blend that captures the feeling of summer in a glass.

At the retreat, we’ll be exploring seasonal herbs, harvesting from the garden, creating herbal preparations, sharing nourishing food, making flower crowns, and spending the day immersed in nature and community.

There will be plenty of opportunities to learn and create, but also time to linger over a cup of tea, wander through the garden, enjoy good conversation, rest, reflect, and simply soak in the beauty of the season.

I wanted to share one of the recipes we’ll be enjoying together as a little preview. 🌿

Even if you can’t make it to the retreat, I hope this recipe inspires you to slow down for a moment and savor these long summer days.

Most people don’t come to me because they want a tincture.

They come because they’re exhausted.

Because their hormones feel out of balance.

Because they’re stressed, anxious, burned out, not sleeping, dealing with digestive issues, allergies, menopause, chronic pain, or they simply want to feel better.

Herbalism isn’t about replacing your doctor.

It’s about having another layer of support.

What health concern do you wish someone would help you figure out? 🌿💚✨

Good medicine is gathered slowly.

On Monday.
And Tuesday.
And Wednesday.
And Thursday.
And Friday.
And Saturday.

A basket here, a handful there.

The drying rack at the end is the reward for showing up again and again.

This week’s harvest: red clover blossoms, carefully gathered and drying for future teas and herbal preparations.

Nature has a way of reminding us that abundance is often created through small, steady acts.

Unfortunately, I won’t be at the Orange Farmers Market today. 👩‍🌾

Our truck needed some repairs, and my market tables and tent are currently stuck inside, so I’ll be staying close to home instead.

The good news? The farm stand is fully stocked and open as usual!

🪴 Plant starts are $1 OFF
🍅 Tomato plants are 50% OFF
🥚 Fresh eggs available
🌿 Herbal products, teas, body care, and remedies stocked in the stand (order online and pick up if you’re looking for something in particular)

I still have plenty of plants looking for homes, and I’d love to see them out in your gardens rather than spending another week in their pots.

The farm stand is self-serve and open daily at Mother Hen’s Homestead at 97 Warwick Rd in Royalston MA

Thank you for supporting small farms and local businesses—it means more than you know. 💚🌿✨

One of my favorite wild edibles is popping up everywhere right now and that’s wood sorrel (Oxalis spp.)! 🌼

At first glance, many people mistake it for clover, but wood sorrel has three heart-shaped leaflets, while clover leaflets are more oval. Once you notice those tiny heart-shaped leaves, you’ll start seeing it everywhere.

Wood sorrel has a bright, lemony flavor thanks to naturally occurring oxalic acid, making it a delicious addition to salads, sandwiches, soups, and herbal vinegars. I often find myself nibbling a leaf or two while working in the garden.

Like many wild foods, wood sorrel is packed with nutrients and reminds us that some of the most nourishing foods aren’t found in the grocery store—they’re growing right under our feet.

Do you have wood sorrel growing in your yard? Have you ever tasted it?

🌿 As always, positively identify any wild plant before eating it and harvest responsibly.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about community.

Not the kind that exists only online, but the kind where people gather around a table, share knowledge, trade skills, support one another, and build relationships.

The world often feels like it’s moving faster, getting louder, and becoming more disconnected.

But what if we built something different?

What if we knew our neighbors?

What if we shared what we grow, make, and learn?

What if we created spaces where people could come together to learn practical skills, connect with nature, and remember what it feels like to belong?

That’s a big part of why I created this gathering space.

Not just to teach herbalism, but to create opportunities for people to gather, learn, share, and build community.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do believe that a better future starts with people coming together in small, meaningful ways.

What does community mean to you? 🌿
