Hi!!! Can I invite you to something? 🤩

Every Sunday from 3–4pm EST, I host a free meditation on Zoom called "Heal & Make Friends," and I want you there!

We start by getting to know each other a little, because I believe community is a strong part of what keeps us regulated. Then I share what themes have been showing up lately: emotionally, relationally, in the body, etc, and then we do something about it! We close with a meditation together rooted in the four pillars of Just Be Method™ with nervous system support as the foundation:
~Embodiment
~Mental Clarity
~Energy Awareness
~Authentic Living

If you've been feeling like life has become mostly about getting through the stress of the week, then imagine how your week would feel if you started it with community, presence, and a deep exhale!

You don't have to already be a client to join. You can have your camera on or off, muted or not. Make this what you need it to be!

🎉Sundays, 3–4pm EST🎉

Hi friend :)

Did I get your attention? Good. I have some words to say 😏

I know you have a desire. ..

So what is it???
No, not the reasonable one. What's your BIG desire???..

The big, BIG one!!! The one that feels unrealistic. The one that feels embarrassing to say out loud. We all have them!

We're just not admitting out LOUD that we want what we want. I'm guilty of waving off a desire for how unrealistic it felt, rather than acknowledging how much it mattered to me. (And how the unrealistic-ness was making me so sad.)

That is, until I realized that NOT MUCH ABOUT LIFE IS REALISTIC!!!

It's SO easy to admit the scary things that happen in life are unrealistic/unpredictable, soooo the good stuff must be unrealistic/unpredictable, too.

Opening a successful wellness center at age 21 was unrealistic... yet it really happened.

Marrying my dream guy and having a healthy relationship felt incredibly unrealistic at one point in my life... yet it really happened.

Having over 30 graduates from my training programs STILL feels unrealistic... yet it happened, and it's still happening!

OUR DESIRES DON'T NEED TO BE REALISTIC FOR THEM TO HAPPEN!!!
(Read that again. And again, this time out loud.)

In June, I'm going to share my own process as I move closer to my next desire: BUYING A HOMEEEE!!! 🏡 🤩 And YOU'RE INVITED to come with me! 🎉🎉🎉 (Btw, if we want an unrealistic meter, I'm starting with $0 for this desire 😉🤩)

I'll give you the play-by-play to follow along for your own big, BIG desire. And I'm so NOT into the whole "watch me manifest this overnight." Instead, this will be more like a "here's what it actually looks like to admit what I want, work with the barriers, receive support, make crucial decisions, and let myself move towards what I desire."

So tell me... I gave you time to think:

What is your big, unrealistic desire?

Put it in the comments. Let it be seen.

We got this!!!

Much love,
Shelby

I did a post as a letter to my future self. Now it's time for a letter to my past self. (And some of you will see parts of yourself in this.)

Dear, sweet, scared Shelby,
Take a breath. You've done so much for so long. Some great things! Some stressful things. But still too much for your body to take in all at once.

Slow down the pace you're moving through life. I know it feels like you won't be able to pay your bills if you slow down. But maybe by some miracle slowing down gets you more of what you need. If you're willing to try it, worst case scenario, you'll pay them late, but be happy and calm doing it!

Your panic comes up when you're doing too much too quickly. Yes, it's annoying. Instead of trying to find ways to make it go away, find ways to support yourself as you experience it. (I promise, it'll always fade.) And then slow down. Remember, your panic is always a sign to do less.

Nervous system regulation works sooooo well for your mind! Start learning about it.

Oh! And by the way, you end up supporting hundreds of people just like you. It never needed to be rushed. It was going to happen no matter what.

I love you deeply.

In becoming a wellness practitioner, I learned we are never really alone. Hearing clients talk about both their struggles and their celebrations alike, I hear similarities... between my clients, and in my own experiences.

If I were to tell my past self 1 thing, it would be, "you are much stronger, braver, and wiser than you realize. The life you want is not just at your fingertips; it's already in the palm of your hand. You already know what to do. And you can take action whenever you decide it's time; you don't need to rush with urgency. Everything unfolds as you take action... no matter when."

Much love,
Shelby

The 5 client sprint is about making meaningful connections and leaving space for it to naturally turn into bookings. Meaningful connections are the main goal. Bookings are a common byproduct.

In the 5 client sprint I do with wellness practitioners, we make several accessible shifts over the course of a month. Social media usage is one of them.

Start by assessing your social media accounts: if you haven't gotten many (or any) direct bookings through social media, this may help! (If your social media is a sales machine, this post isn't for you today. And congrats on getting to that place! That's amazing!)

Try shifting your accounts to communicate with a niche part of your market. What I mean by that is, if you're a wellness practitioner (massage, Reiki, counseling, etc), chances are your work can support almost anyone. But when we speak to "everyone" on social media, it can actually decrease follow through into booking a session. Your account can come across as "I can help you anytime through any of life's ups-and-downs." Which doesn't often make a prospective client feel like "wow, this person totally gets me!"

Try using social media to speak directly to a sub-group of your target market for 30 days. For wellness practitioners this could be "women going through divorce" or "men in their 40s who want to leave corporate work to do something they love" or "an empty-nester moving away from the home she raised her family in". I recommend choosing a group that you were once in yourself.

Each of these groups have very unique circumstances they're trying to navigate that you can offer genuine support to through your bio, posts, and commenting on others posts.

Extra tip: unless you already have the caseload you desire, it can be more effective to only have one link in your bio: your direct booking link (ideally to your personal booking page). Decrease decision-making moments, as they can be a barrier for clients to book. Let it be effortless for people: they read a post and think "yes! This person gets me. How can I work with them?" One link, one main service you're directing them to.

Speaking of genuine connections, I love them! Check my first comment ↓

Happy 4th birthday to my sweet, literal angel on Earth 🩵 (okay, her actual birthday was yesterday, but I was too busy giving her treats and playing with cardboard boxes to post 😂)

We adopted Pud 4 days before I left a terrible work environment to open Just Be. She came into my life at the moment that changed everything for me.

Quitting my job was so scary, I left shaking, and I remember thinking I was crazy to adopt a new pet amidst it all... but she made it so fun! Having a 4 month old creature who's sole purpose is to play and make others play with her was medicine for my shaken-up soul.

I came home shaking, but was met with a tiny, soft creature chasing a bell around our home. It was so joyful and innocent, and reminded me of the purpose of this life.

I could go on-and-on about the magic of her and all animals, but we all know that already! Go hug your pet today, and if you don't have one, go on a walk (we ask to pet everyone's dogs!)

Happy birthday, Sweet Puddy 🩵😸

Several years ago, I started thinking about what it'll be like to look back on this life when it's all done.

If I continued the way I was, I would've felt ashamed.
"Why did I stay so stressed and serious?"
"Why didn't I enjoy life more?"

It was a wakeup call. I had unknowingly settled into a life of always chasing the next goal.

And there's a way to do that with joy and gratitude, but there's also a way of doing it with seriousness and urgency.

I chose to step out of seriousness, and I kept aiming for the feeling of the first morning on vacation. Coffee in hand, a new day ahead of me, and finally at ease.

On vacation, I live with permission:
Tired? Take a nap. Yay!
Need a break? Pick up a book.

Whereas before (and how I think a lot of us live):
Tired? Keep going, you gotta get this done.
Need a break? Maybe later. After this is complete.

Nothing in my life had to drastically change. I just remember that I'm someone worth being taken care of, and from there, everyday life starts feeling like vacation 🌞

Trying to think your way out of stress is top-down processing.

“I just need to figure this out.”
“Let me think through every possible outcome.”
“Once I understand it, I’ll feel better.”

But your problems are still like ✨absolutely not✨️

Because when your nervous system is activated, more thinking usually equals more spiraling (not more clarity).

If that’s happening, try shifting out of thinking and into experiencing life (I call this "living!"):

• DANCE PARTYYYY!!! 🎉
(Yes, you can be the one who responds to stress with a dance party. Solutions can come after a moment of fun and ease. Warning: it may feel really weird at first!)

• Go outside. Breathe the fresh air. Smile in the sunlight.
(Again, solutions can come later. Give yourself a moment to enjoy life. You deserve it! And you'll probably have better ideas after.)

• Do a "vacation mode" thing. Think about how you feel on vacation. Do you randomly pick up a book? Make a cup of coffee?
(Do this when you're stressed to help disrupt the tension spiral.)

We have such a short time in this life. Let it be more fun. Your problem can wait until the dance party is over 😉 🎉

You got this!
