🚨 ARKANSAS FOOD SAFETY ALERT 🥬⚠️
If you’ve recently purchased shredded iceberg lettuce or salad kits from Walmart, or ate shredded iceberg lettuce at Taco Bell while traveling, this is worth your attention.
The FDA and CDC are investigating a multistate Cyclospora outbreak. Arkansas is among the states where recalled retail products were distributed. While an initial laboratory test on one lettuce sample was later determined to be a false positive, the investigation is still ongoing, and the FDA continues to advise consumers not to eat the affected recalled products.
🛒 Check your refrigerator if you recently purchased:
✅ Walmart Marketside® shredded iceberg lettuce
✅ Bagged shredded iceberg lettuce
✅ Iceberg salad blends or salad kits listed in the recall
If you’re unsure whether your product is included, it’s safest to throw it away or return it for a refund.
🌮 What about Taco Bell?
The outbreak has been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Taco Bell has since removed the affected lettuce from its restaurants nationwide while the investigation continues.
🤒 Symptoms of Cyclospora may include:
• Prolonged watery diarrhea
• Stomach cramps
• Nausea
• Loss of appetite
• Fatigue
• Low-grade fever
Symptoms often begin 2–14 days after eating contaminated food and can last for weeks without treatment.
✔️ What you should do today:
🥬 Check your refrigerator.
🛒 Review any recent Walmart lettuce purchases.
🌮 If you traveled and ate Taco Bell in one of the affected states, monitor for symptoms.
🗑️ When in doubt, throw it out.
👩⚕️ Contact your healthcare provider if you develop persistent diarrhea or other concerning symptoms.
