Tomorrow is Match Day!!!

This year, our Match Fund is going towards funding our 5th annual Community Baby Shower, which celebrates all the new additions to families in Nemaha County and helps those families connect with local resources, as well as sends them home with essential baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, pack n plays, car seats, and more!

At our largest shower, we were able to celebrate more than 60 Nemaha County families, and each family took home a package of diapers, wipes, a sleep sack, sleeper, and more. This is all thanks to the generous donations from our community!

¡¡¡Mañana es el Día de la Donación Emparejada (Match Day)!!!

Este año, los fondos recaudados a través de esta iniciativa se destinarán a financiar nuestro quinto evento anual de "Baby Shower" comunitario. Este evento celebra la llegada de nuevos miembros a las familias del condado de Nemaha y les ayuda a conectar con recursos locales; además, permite que se lleven a casa artículos esenciales para el bebé, como pañales, toallitas húmedas, cunas portátiles, sillas para el automóvil y mucho más.

En nuestra celebración más grande hasta la fecha, pudimos agasajar a más de 60 familias del condado de Nemaha, y cada una de ellas se llevó a casa un paquete de pañales, toallitas húmedas, un s**o de dormir para bebés, un pijama y otros artículos. ¡Todo esto es posible gracias a las generosas donaciones de nuestra comunidad!

Breastfeeding has a lot of benefits, both physical and economic. Breastfeeding has health benefits for both mom and baby and can reduce the risk of a lot of illness. It also reduces the cost of formula, as well as other healthcare costs. By increase the care and support we give to breastfeeding moms, we prevent both maternal and child deaths as well as economic loss.

La lactancia materna conlleva numerosos beneficios, tanto físicos como económicos. Ofrece ventajas para la salud tanto de la madre como del bebé y puede reducir el riesgo de padecer diversas enfermedades. Asimismo, disminuye los gastos asociados a la leche de fórmula y otros costos de atención médica. Al incrementar el cuidado y el apoyo que brindamos a las madres lactantes, prevenimos tanto la mortalidad materna e infantil como las pérdidas económicas.

This week is World Water Week. While school has started, it is still hot out and we are still spending time near water, especially on the weekends. Remember to always have a dedicated water watcher, someone who's only job is to keep their eyes on people in the water (not on their phones, reading a book, etc.), and to trade this job regularly to reduce fatigue. People who are not strong swimmers should always have a properly fitting life jacket on, and even strong swimmers should wear a life jacket when doing any sort of water sport.

Esta semana se celebra la Semana Mundial del Agua. Aunque ya han comenzado las clases, todavía hace calor y seguimos pasando tiempo cerca del agua, especialmente los fines de semana. Recuerde asignar siempre a una persona encargada de vigilar a quienes están en el agua —alguien cuya única tarea sea mantener la vista en ellos (sin distraerse con el teléfono, leyendo un libro, etc.)— y turnarse regularmente en esta labor para evitar la fatiga. Las personas que no sepan nadar bien deben llevar siempre un chaleco salvavidas de la talla adecuada; incluso los buenos nadadores deberían usarlo al practicar cualquier deporte acuático.

Match day is Friday!! Our match fund this year is for the annual Community Baby Shower, held in April 2027 in Seneca. All donations will be used to make this event possible and to send every family home with a bag of essential baby supplies as well as have other prizes such as strollers, car seats, pack and plays, and more!

Nemaha County Community Health Services promotes and protects the health of people and our local community where we live, learn, work and play through evidence-based practices, education, promotion and prevention.

ONE WEEK!!!

We have one week until Match Day! This year, our Match Day fund is going towards our Community Baby Shower, which is being held in Seneca in April 2027. Our Community Baby Shower celebrates the new additions to Nemaha County Families, helps connect these families to local resources, and provide them with essential baby supplies and safety tools. This event serves around 60 families and is made possible by the generous donations of our community.
