This summer has already been so hot! Sometimes, when we are thinking about the heat, we forget that our furry friends can overheat too, but the signs of heat stress in dogs is different then humans.

Don't forget, the pavement is much hotter than the air! The pavement can be around 50 degrees hotter than the outside air, which can quickly be too hot for their bare feet!

Today is Button Battery Awareness Day. Button Batteries are in so many things now, remote controls, toys, even greeting cards! However, button batteries are highly toxic and very easy to swallow. Battery companies have been putting many safety measures in place to try to protect kids (making them taste bad, putting a coating on them to make tongues turn blue if you put them in your mouth), however, that doesn't completely prevent kids from swallowing them!

Kids see riding in the front seat as a sign as being grown up- so they beg and beg to get to ride in the front seat. And sometimes, we give in, thinking "a ride to the grocery store won't hurt". However, did you know that airbags deploy at up to 186mph? If it was an adult sitting in the front seat, it would hit them in the chest. However, to a child, it would hit their underdeveloped neck and head, which could cause serious or fatal injuries. Never give in, remind them that they are VIPs, and VIPs ride in the back seat!
