I’ve owned Saha for almost 3 years now. I started off managing for the magical Ellen Hosein and learned so much about what a truly wholesome work environment could teach me. When she moved to SF & offered me this opportunity, I struggled to believe I was capable. But I said yes anyway….

I’m grateful to her & Rami Hosein for such a beautiful life I’m able to live, for the growth and journey this business has brought me, and for the true joy and contentment that this practice offers to the people who choose peace with us every day.

And yeah, I’m grateful for that damn couch too ♥️

It’s OKAY - you’re not doing it wrong.

The first time just takes some gettin use to.

A 30 minute infrared sauna session.

A 30 minute detox.

A 30 minute uninterrupted, without distraction, moment alone with you.

I wanna sweat with you, laugh with you, and then go grab a coffee after. We can walk around Midtown and laugh, and you can tell me that I stink, even though I know I put deodorant on right after our session.

I love you.

☀️ 🌙 Floating in the morning versus the evening?

Does floating make you sleepy or does it give you energy and clarity? ….these are things that you need to consider when planning your next float.

If you leave the tank with more mental clarity a calm, I’d recommend floating during the morning or afternoon. This way it sets the tone for the rest of your day, and helps really regulate those cortisol levels.

However, if you get super sleepy after a float, then float in the evening. It’s going to help your body fully relax into your bed. You’re gonna get a lot more comfortable more easily, and probably get one of the best sleeps of your life.

But not every single person’s body reacts the same.

🚿 Why a lukewarm shower beforehand?

Honestly, this is gonna be a game changer for the first 15 minutes of your flow. Instead of your body needing to recalibrate to normal external body temperature, it’s more primed to get into a parasympathetic system response. It really is truly gonna help your body fully relax into your float, getting a lot more out of the overall experience.

🛑 What does letting go even mean?

I think this looks differently for every single person but once you’re in the tank, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

It’s no longer thinking about your day today, it’s no longer worrying about the grocery list, it’s no longer worrying about needing to do the laundry in two days or the bills, or even the anxiety that you have been struggling with quietly. It’s the ability to just fully “BE”. There’s nothing quite like it.

Sharing an experience like float therapy!?

There’s nothing quite like getting out of your first low and feeling like you’re completely yourself again ❤️ and then the first thing you wanna do is share that with your best friend, your partner, your oldest niece, or that barista that you’ve been seeing for the five years straight that knows your order by heart.

But the truth of the matter is that every single person experiences a float completely differently. I personally, experience a lot of racing thoughts, it takes a long time even after 13 years of floating to be able to fully settle back in to my own body again. It’s not until I’m out of the tank and in my day-to-day life that I experienced the true benefits of flow therapy.

Whereas Megan, our manager here, they go to sleep almost immediately when they get into the tank and it is exactly what they needed in that moment.

I think float therapy truly meets the person who is floating exactly where they are, and allows their body to give them exactly what they need. Our bodies are here to take care of us after all.

Combining zero gravity, high concentrations of Epsom salt, and the restriction of external sensory stimulation, floating can be an incredible tool for physical recovery. It takes pressure off the joints, gives the body a chance to fully relax, and has also been shown to help lower cortisol and blood pressure.

But the mental side of floating is just as important, especially for a high-intensity athlete. And if you know, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Focus isn’t just the ability to perform in a high-stress environment, it’s the ability to calm yourself within one, to control your thought processes, and to come back to base when there’s a lot happening around you.

And contrary to what we might think, sometimes the best way to get better at handling all of that stimulation isn’t to put ourselves through more of it. Sometimes it’s the opposite.

You need the quiet. You need the complete lack of external stimulation. You need a space where your body can let go and your mind can practice coming back to center.

Because being able to quiet the noise when there’s nothing around you is part of learning how to quiet it when there is.
