✨Join us for FREE online training: Therapeutic Approaches for Children with Prenatal Substance Exposure✨

Treatment for individuals with prenatal substance exposure must be grounded in an appreciation of the neurodevelopmental deficits that drive the child’s behavioral difficulties. This program will address the evidence-based treatment approaches that appear to improve the developmental trajectory for individuals with prenatal substance exposure. The treatment strategies will be grounded in interventions that address the three basic domains of functioning affected by prenatal substance exposure – neurocognitive, self-regulation, and adaptive – and present evidence-based approaches that have proven effective.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

-Integrate findings across three domains of functioning and develop a treatment plan based on these findings.
-Guide families in managing their children’s difficulties with regulatory behavior.
-Describe evidence-based treatment interventions for children and youth affected by prenatal substance exposure.

During weeks 37-40, your baby is in the home stretch! During these final weeks, they continue to gain weight, fine-tune brain development, and get into position for birth. By week 39, most babies are considered full-term and ready to meet the world.

Substance use can still affect your baby's health during this important stage. Exposure to alcohol, ni****ne, or other drugs may increase the risk of low birth weight, breathing and feeding difficulties, newborn withdrawal symptoms, and long-term developmental challenges.
It’s never too late to reduce or stop substance use.
