Good food, great conversations, and a shared commitment to pharmacy’s future! 🍝

On October 7, CPhA joined University of the Pacific’s S**C for Pasta & Policy, bringing student pharmacists and pharmacy professionals together to talk about advocacy and getting involved.

CPhA President Dr. Jennifer Courtney and Membership Manager Giovanni Hernandez shared how legislation affects pharmacy and how students can bring ideas to CPhA’s House of Delegates, help shape association policy, and build connections within the profession.

Thank you to University of the Pacific, Dean Berit Gundersen, student organizers Brendan Ansari and Samuel Lee, and the entire S**C team for organizing this meaningful evening. Special thanks to CPhA Past Presidents Michael Pastrick and Ralph Saroyan for joining us and supporting our student pharmacists.

Bringing pharmacy practice directly to policymakers.

CPhA recently coordinated a visit with Senator Arreguín to Valor Compounding Pharmacy in Berkeley, providing an opportunity for the Senator to see firsthand the important role compounding pharmacies play in meeting the individualized medication needs of patients.

During the visit, the Valor team, including Pharmacist-in-Charge Alyx Tennison, shared an overview of the pharmacy’s services, discussed the role of compounding in patient care, and provided a tour of its compounding laboratories.

Connecting pharmacists and pharmacy teams with policymakers is an important part of CPhA’s advocacy efforts, helping legislators better understand the work pharmacists perform every day and the role pharmacy plays throughout California’s healthcare system.

Thank you to Senator Arreguín for taking the time to visit and learn more about pharmacy practice, and to the Valor Compounding Pharmacy team for opening their doors and representing the profession.

This year’s theme, Caring for Our Communities, celebrates what pharmacy professionals do every day: show up for their patients, provide trusted care, improve access to health services, and strengthen the communities they serve.

Throughout California, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, student pharmacists, and pharmacy teams are making a difference in countless ways, from immunizations and medication management to patient education, chronic disease care, and so much more.
