Sometimes a simple trip to the post office can feel surprisingly emotional.

Last week I signed and mailed a copy of Happy With Baby to someone that means a great deal to me as they prepare to welcome their little one.

They say, “No one prepares you for what you’re going to go through,” and honestly, that’s true. Becoming parents changes you in ways you could never fully anticipate. It’s beautiful, hard, joyful, humbling, and unlike anything else.

As I sealed up the package, I found myself smiling and thinking about all the love that already surrounds this baby.

There’s something really special about new beginnings.

Wishing her and her growing family so much joy, connection, and countless sweet moments as they begin this next chapter together.

Sometimes it’s not just a relationship problem.

Postpartum rage is more common than many parents realize, and it doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom.

Anger can be a sign of overwhelm, sleep deprivation, or a nervous system that has been pushed too far for too long. If you find yourself snapping and then feeling guilt, it’s worth paying attention to with care, not judgment.

Mother’s Day has never felt simple to me.

Over the years, I’ve come to understand just how much this day can hold not just love and gratitude, but also grief, longing, estrangement, overwhelm, and the ache of what is missing.

For some, this day is joyful.
For others, it brings up the loss of a mother, the pain of a complicated relationship, the heartbreak of wanting to be a mother, or the loneliness of being one and struggling more than anyone sees.

That’s part of why Maternal Mental Health Month matters so much to me.

Because motherhood is not just a role. It is a lived experience that can hold joy, identity shifts, exhaustion, tenderness, anxiety, sadness, and emotional pain — sometimes all at once.

Today I’m thinking especially about the mothers who are carrying a lot quietly.
The ones showing up while grieving.
The ones navigating estrangement.
The ones feeling unseen.
The ones who love deeply and are also very tired.
The ones trying their best in a season that feels heavier than it looks from the outside.

If Mother’s Day feels tender for you, you are not alone.
If it feels complicated, that makes sense.
If it feels like a mix of many things, there is room for that too.

Holding space today for the full truth of it. Not just the polished parts.

All of it.

Be gentle with yourself today. 🤍

This Mother’s Day feels especially tender… I’m turning 50, and it falls on the very same day. 💛

I keep thinking about the mother I’ve grown into over the years… how much this role has stretched me, softened me, and changed me.

Choosing connection over perfection, presence over pressure, and love over getting it all right.
