It's All Yoga

It's All Yoga A virtual movement studio for women in their 40s through 70s who want to get genuinely stronger without the hustle, the harm, or the transformation promises.

Slow is the strategy here. Personal attention is the standard.

Two things can be true:

Slow is the new strong.

And...

Bones like a little speed.

The slow part is the big picture.

We build strength patiently. We stay consistent. We skip the hero days that leave us limping around for a week wondering what we were trying to prove.

But inside that slow, steady practice?

A little speed can be useful.
A brisk step. A small hop. A heel drop. A movement that says, “Hey bones, pay attention.”

And please note the word little.

You don’t need to launch yourself across the living room.

Slow build. Quick bones.

That’s October.

Your skeleton is not a finished project.

I know. It sounds strange to think of bone as something alive and responsive because mostly we don’t think about our bones at all.

Until somebody hands us a scan with a number on it.

I’d rather talk about them now.

Calmly. Practically. With a little weight in our hands.

October inside It’s All Yoga is Strong Bones, Tall Spine.

We’ll be exploring the kinds of movement that give bones a reason to stay strong and the back-body strength that helps us move through the world feeling supported.

No scare tactics. No perfect posture.
Just building what we want to keep.

I know slow is not the message most women are getting.

Most of the world is still yelling about more, faster, harder.

But I have been teaching bodies for 25 years.

I have lived in a body that had to be rebuilt.

And I trust slow.
I trust careful.
I trust consistent.
I trust the kind of strength that compounds quietly over time.

That is the work we do here.

You know what’s interesting?

Most of us don’t wake up one morning and decide:
I’m done rotating now.
No more getting down on the floor for me.
I’ll only use 60% of my shoulder range from here on out. 😂

Those movements just slowly disappear.

Life gets more forward-facing. More chair-shaped. More convenient.

And eventually we mistake unpracticed for unable.

That’s one of the things I love about yoga and strength work.
We get to keep reminding the body of everything it can do.

Not perfectly.
Not aggressively.
Just regularly.

Which one on this list made you think, “Huh. I don’t do much of that anymore”?

I wasn’t planning to run Mindful Muscle Club again until January.

Then enough of you asked that I started to reconsider.
And honestly, fall makes sense.

The kids go back to school. Schedules shift. The calendar gets rearranged.

And maybe, somewhere in there, we remember that we’re a person who needs looking after, too.

So, I changed my mind.

I’m quietly putting together a small October group for Mindful Muscle Club.

12 weeks of getting stronger, paying attention, and learning how to work with the body you have now.

No gym culture. No punishment. No trying to keep up.

Just thoughtful strength work, support, and a small group of women doing it together.

We start October 6.

If you’ve been thinking about it, consider this your little nudge. 🖤

I know the fitness industry loves a deadline.

30 days to a new you.
12 weeks to your strongest body.
Summer body. Holiday reset. New year, new you.

Honestly?

I’m not interested in your 12-week transformation.

I’m interested in the next 12 years.

Can you get down to the floor and back up again?
Can you carry your groceries?
Can you trust your legs?
Can you feel steady in your own body?
Can you build strength without blowing up your shoulder, exhausting your nervous system, or
quietly deciding you’ve failed by week three?

That’s the work I care about.

And the funny thing is, the fastest way there is usually not fast at all.

It’s slow.

Slow enough to feel what you’re doing.
Slow enough to come back tomorrow.
Slow enough for your body to believe you.

That’s why I made Slow Is The New Strong — a free guide about 5 fitness myths midlife women can stop believing now.

Because you do not need urgency to be strong.

You need patience, honesty, and a way in.
You can grab it through the link in my bio.

I’ve been teaching movement for more than 25 years.

And you know what I still catch myself doing?

The movements I like. 😂
The sequences that feel good.
The exercises my body knows.
The things I don’t have to think very hard about.

In other words, I can eat the same movement meal all week too.

Familiarity isn’t failure.
There are good reasons we return to things we love.

But bodies also need range.
Different directions. Different loads. Different speeds. Different shapes.

And sometimes we need someone to give us a little nudge toward the thing we’ve stopped doing.

That’s what September’s Movement Nutrition theme is about at It’s All Yoga.

Not doing more for the sake of doing more.

Giving your body a little more variety to live with.

I’m nudging myself too.

There will be days you don’t make it to class.
There will be days the 30-minute practice doesn’t happen.
There will be days when your beautifully planned morning gets eaten alive by life before 8:17.

Please don’t let that turn into:
Well, I guess I’m not moving today.

Take five minutes.

Walk around your house.
Put on one song and move until it’s over.
Carry things.
Climb the stairs.
Take Maple for a walk.

Don’t have a Maple?

You can apparently walk an imaginary dog. 😂

I am increasingly interested in helping us get away from this idea that movement has to look official before it matters.

What’s your favorite completely unofficial way to move?

09/16/2026

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned that movement only “counts” if we do enough of
it.

Long enough.
Hard enough.
Sweaty enough.

Turns out, that’s not how this works.

The old recommendation that activity had to happen in bouts of at least 10 minutes was removed from the federal physical activity guidelines.

Which means all those tiny bits of movement you’ve been mentally throwing away?

They weren’t throwaways.

The stretch while the coffee brewed.
The stairs instead of the elevator.
Two minutes outside between Zoom calls.
Getting on the floor with the dog and getting yourself back up again. 😄

It counts.

And once we stop dismissing the small stuff, movement gets a whole lot easier to fit into a life.

What’s one tiny way you already move during your day that you’ve never really given yourself credit for?
