We have NEW important updates for Medi-Cal starting in October 2026!

Starting as soon as October 1, 2026, Medi-Cal beneficiaries with “unsatisfactory” immigration status will transition from the managed care system to the “fee-for-service” (FFS) system. If this applies to you, you will continue to have Medi-Cal coverage and receive medical services, but you will receive those services in a different way.

For Medi-Cal beneficiaries affected by this change, it is important to find a new doctor who accepts fee-for-service (FFS) payments.

Just a few highlights from day 2 at Familia de Sangre.

Our friend, Estela Mata-Carcamo with Looms4Lupus presented two sessions on access and advocacy. And Future Leader Board Representative Sophia Horta, along with a group of Future Leader Alumni, led our session in the teen track.

Thanks to Board Member Mia Castaneda-Layman for the amazing la lotería decorations and game boards. And Andrea Palladino, Board President Rigo Manzo and Treasurer Ryan Faden for all your help at the booth.

We love being part of the bleeding disorders family.

Beware of Medi-Cal scammers asking for your personal information!

BDCC has learned that scammers are targeting Medi-Cal and members through social media ads, especially on Facebook Marketplace, offering “free government smartphones.”

Please, NEVER share your personal information, including photos of your Medi-Cal cards or full Social Security Numbers, with anyone online!

Medi-Cal will never contact members via social media to request personal information. Only respond to official county or state communications.

You can report suspected scams to [email protected].
